Saving porous wheels
Suggested by Tim BaxterOld alloy wheels can become porous, allowing air to seep out even if the tires and valve stems become porous. The fine folks at Wheels America have a DIY solution that usually works:
Sand the wheel well, then put a good etching primer on the aluminum, followed by a high build primer, then some topcoat or clearcoat to seal it all in. Think of it like a good thick paint job to seal the aluminum.
