1963 VW Beetle - My year-round daily driver. Sitting on late model (‘72) pan for better driveability (Ball joints and I.R.S). Upgrades: Front disc brakes, 1641cc engine, Mallory Unilite, 1 5/8” merged header, dropped spindles, vintage Hurst shifter, vintage 1970’s American Racing wheels (wide-5 pattern 911 replicas, no adapters needed), VDO gauges in dash, H-4 headlights, Euro rear lenses-bumpers-front headlight glass. Car is daily driven. With the late model transmission and gearing, it loves to cruise at 70+MPH and still gets 25+MPG.

Great looking Beetle! I love the popped deck lid.

Big Al:
Thanks! Propping the decklid helps it run cooler when you run a later model engine with the larger “doghouse” fan shroud. The 1963 engine compartment wasn't designed to flow as much air as is needed for a later model engine/fan setup.
