Very RARE California car. I purchased this gorgeous ‘67 from a dealer in Southern California. Unique is the fact that this vehicle still has its’ “smog pump” from the beginning years of emissions programs initiated in 1967. Also unique are the “Black Plates” collectible license plates of CA. These plates were issued in 1963. And finally is the pristine paint. After several previous popular-colored paint jobs, this “Great One” was finally restored to her original Champagne color. I would say she is about 80% restored. I plan on putting her back exactly as she was when she hit the showroom in late ‘66.

I lived in So. Cal. during that era. I drove a '66 Catalina 2+2 with a 421 Tri-Power. I also had a '66 Tempest Sprint with an OHC six, dual carbs, & dual exhaust. Pontiac made some fine rides back then. Concerning your Black Plate license. People in Oregon and Colorado called cars with the California Black Plate the “Black Plague.” We in So. Cal. defined a Colorado or Oregon “native” as “a Californian who lived out of state long enough to replace his Black Plate with a local one.” And of course all those “natives” wanted to halt migration from California right after THEY moved.

My ex brother in law had a 63 and a 67 convertible in the 1980's, both concours. I always remember that old Jan & Dean song.
