Precious Moments...

Nov 22, 2010 update on vangoughv's 1970 Triumph GT6+ (Brutus)

I picked up dad Saturday and thanks to some late season nice weather took us for a nice long cruise in the GT6. Stopped and bought a burgar, ran a few erands and drove through parts of our community where I grew up and remenissed. We finally returned to my place and spent the day playing in the garage working on Brutus. Dad has Alzeimers but he’s still OK and loves helping with the cars and was very content to start stripping the front spoiler. Once I got him set up I spent a couple hours sorting through parts to find what would be needed for the race build and what could be either turfed or labelled and stored. We had litterally thrown everything in big boxes when we picked up the car in the spring and I’m getting to the point where I can start thinking about mechanical. This weekend we stripped the front spoiler and I dissassembled the brake and clutch masters, cleaned and primed them. Every time I strip all the primer and crap of anything I end up much deeper…. With the spoiler, both outter mount points were rotted through and a bunch of Bondo had been slopped on and primed over so out came the MIG. You gotta expect surprises from a 40 year old car and it’s always fun ;)
