Aug 28, 2011 update on vangoughv's 1970 Triumph GT6+ (Brutus)
I haven’t posted my build progress in a while but I’ve been hard at it… Window glass went in a couple weekends ago and I treated daisy to a new rear wind shield seal as well. I sorted the exhaust routing and had a local shop bend up some 2” pipe to improve flow and it sounds sweet. I slaved last weekend on the rear to install new bearings and rotoflex couplings which was a chore since someone had previously pulverized the hubs hammering stuff together so threads were damaged, seals were shot and one bearing was burnt. I had to carefully cut a good 1/8” of one 1/2 shaft to get to clean thread.. New seals, bearings and rotoflexes are in and while I was at it I upgraded the wheel studs to 12mm. Through the week I made up a pattern for my trunk enclosure for the fuel area and had a nice aluminum cover bent up that I installed a few nights ago along with the front grill.. More than one night in the garage after midnight had me ready for a good test run in the office parking lot Friday night where I found a few minor bugs..
