2002 Progress, Now With Lights and More
Nov 1, 2011 update to the BMW 2002tii project car
We’re slowly progressing on the reassembly of our BMW 2002tii. While some jobs, like installing the Hella H4 lights and Hella Supertone horns are pretty straightforward, other tasks aren’t so easy. The roll-up windows in both doors, for example, are rather frustrating to install and adjust so that they work correctly. We got the passenger side working just fine, but the driver’s side is refusing to roll up all the way so that it fits flush against the door seal. We’ll keep fiddling with it until it’s just right.
We’re taking care of other details like the windshield wipers. The arms are stainless steel, so a quick brush with a scrubby pad took care of the grunge before we reinstalled them.
Our next major task is the installation of the carpet set. We ordered a cut and sewn kit from Bavarian Auto in a charcoal color. It works really well with the Taiga color and matches our anthracite Rota RB wheels perfectly.
We’ve also ordered new seat belts for the both the front and rear passengers to make things extra safe. We’re converting the rear belts to a three-point system instead of lap belts only. Those will get installed after the carpet.
Once we’re done these last few things, we’ll get started on reassembling the engine and the engine compartment.
