Triumph TR3: TR3 Racing Season Going Well Jun 27, 2006

Our racing season is going well. After wins at Hallett and at the Mitty, it was on to VIR for the Gold Cup June 9-11.

After some testing and sorting with our newly revalved and now externally adjustable front Koni shocks, we got the TR3 dialed in and on Saturday’s qualifying session ran a 2:27 which is a second faster than we have ever run, despite being down 20 horsepower from our peak in 2004.

We managed a second place finish on Saturday and then during Sunday morning’s warm-up we heard rear-end noises. That noise turned out to be a tooth missing from the pinion gear, so we were done for the weekend. We will take a couple of months off and hit the tracks again this fall with a new ring and pinion and some new J&E pistons.
