I shipped a Datsun Roadster from Texas to New York some years ago. Non-running cars add $100 to the bill.
I got frustrated that it took so long to deliver, but they set up a loop of pick up - drop off cars to be more effecint. I called the dipatcher and kinda bitched about how long it was taking and they told me that all trucking companies use the same dispatcher. Get pissed, fire the carrier and find another one; you go through the process again, but now you're at the bottom of the list.
It cost me $700 at the time, maybe five years ago.

I used an expensive local guy (twice) who does nothing but high dollar hot rods and custom bikes. Since he lives in the area, I'm the last stop. I give him the information and he schedules me when he has a space and some deadhead time, so I get a break. Normally he picks it up within 2-3 weeks, but once the car gets on the trailer, it's in my garage within a few days.
Might check with local car dealers, normally higher end cars, who might steer you to one.

Looks like a good excuse for a road trip to me. I bought a Jeep in California and a trailer in Oregon and towed my MG home to Alaska from Oregon.

I would like to do a road trip but I don't have the time off from work. I was looking for good/ bad comments on companies that you guys may have use to avoid using a bad company.

Does it run? How about a relay run of trusted people?

In reply to 914Driver:
No the car does not run its definitly a project car. I also calculated the cost of hauling my empty trailer out and returning with the car and came up with about $1200 for fuel only.

I trailered my MG to Alaska because the shipping companies couldn't guarantee that the car wouldn't be out on the deck of a ship from Tacoma to Anchorage. It just worked out that I found the Jeep I had been looking for in California. All I had to do then was buy a light weight car-hauling trailer, and we had a real adventure out of it. But trailering wasn't a cheap answer.
