I was at the Rolex 24 working the horseshoe corner for the SCCA. During the off shifts, we get full access to the track, including the top of the grandstands with the spotters. Here (for slideshow) are a few of the hundreds of pictures I took during the week. An added bonus, while driving the wife around shopping before the event, we stumbled accross the GRM world headquarters and stopped in for a chat.

    Great photos! Thanks!

I watched a good portion of the 24 on SpeedTV. An excellent race! And I really enjoyed the Continenatal 200 race.

Honestly, the DP car are neat, but I wish they had the slower Conti-200 cars in the 24. I can identify better with the slower, "regular" cars

A lot of beat up cars were running around this year.

That RX8 with half its side off must have been fun.

Andre, there was a BMW M3, the new model with the glass roof. Sometime over the night he took a hit and the roof shattered. The hood was missing too so when I got on station at 7:30 AM, the car was running through the fog with just the sides, all taped up, still intact. As it would go by it looked beat up but normal in profile than as it went away you could see the entire roll cage and inside of the car. I had a few, did I really see that, moments, but once the fog lifted it was obvious what happened. I never got a chance to get a picture, it overheated during my shift and pulled into the garage for good.

That just shows the determination of these teams to keep running, what ever it takes, to go the 24 hours, even if they don't stand a chance of winning. Compare that to the NASCAR start and parkers, who run a lap or two and pull off just to get the money.

My hats off to the real racers, pro and amateur, who make this such a great event.

I found out Randy Probst was driving it. He had just been hit from behind.

Nice Pic's !! I was down in Dayton this year as well 5 of my friends and I left my house in Ohio and made it down in 13 hrs. 2 of my friends crewed for Freedom Motorsport on there MX-5 . And the next day we crewed for Speed Source #69 they got mixed up in an ontrack incedent and with drew around 11:00pm. We were repairing the car when the Grassroots group was touring the pits.
