Hi, For u guys in the Corvair thing...while passing thewinter season in Myrtle Beach SC, just as we were returning to cold Canada...a Corvair registry had their meeting there. It was a blast to see these cars. Specificaly one red one (Gen 2) that was so nice (coupe). This was around the first week of march 2010. Check with the Sea Mist Resort.

There's a warm spot in my heart for Corvairs. My dad had a 61 and a 65, both four doors. Dad was in the Canadian airforce and in 1965 we were posted to England for one year and then Germany for three years at a NATO base. We took the 65 Corvair with us. Must have been fun driving a LHD drive car in UK! (I was too young to drive then) We brought the Corvair back to Canada in 1969 after it had been all over Europe. Dad finally got rid of it in 1972. Ralph Nader be damned. Corvairs were great cars.

A friend of mine had a Turbo Spyder in the 70's. It ran great and was lots of fun provided you were ready for the Porsche like tail throttle oversteer.

But It did give us a serious scare. We kept smelling gas and trying figure out why. We discovered the guy who bought it new had replaced the carpeting. He used carpet tacks or brads and a couple had barely nicked into the GASOLINE TANK!! To this day I don't know why we didn't get blown up!
