Still bummed I sold this car. It is the car that got me started on the road racing thing. Did my HPDEs in it and sold it to a buddy to fund the race car that I then sold to fund the new baby on the way.

Its up for sale again amd I dont have the cash to buy it back. bummer.

1986 Saleen mustang #120. The only Saleen made in this color combo.

87 short block, single T44 turbo, GT40 heads, 1.6 RR, performer 5.0 intake, 42lb squirters, diablo sport dyno tune, 77mm maf, 3.55 gears, FMS drive shaft, stock race craft suspension with rebuilt Konis.

Ha!...I had #87-192. One of three (white w/gray stripes). Cool cars.I also sold mine to fund the son.

I would say that I miss my first car, '65 Mustang convertible the most.

    Easy like Sunday Morning.

Only sold it after somebody hit me in the rain, and rolled me over. Sold it to an old friend that wanted the M20 6-cyl and rear discs for his wife's US market E21 3-Series. At least the thing didn't go to waste.

How can it be a midlife crisis, when I've driven sportscars my entire life?

I have only sold 2, and im glad they are gone. A 71 suburban i couldn't ever get running right (chevy small blocks dont like me for some reason) and was too rusty, and a 85 shelby charger that was just too old and cheaply made to be a good DD. My dad had tons of cars that are worth alot of money now that he wishes he had back though, like a Abarth OT1300, 59 Alfa sprint veloce, etc.

I have an uncle who still owns a 1965 Shelby Mustang he bought new. He once told me he wished he would have kept the Impala SS 409 convertible he owned instead.

I've owned 13 cars (I'm a lightweight by GRM standards) but the only car I've been really attached to is my turbocharged NB Miata. I love the looks, I love the sound, I love the agility, I love the speed. I'd sell my M3 tomorrow if I had to, but I couldn't bring myself to sell this Miata.

Destroyed: -1979 Honda Civic CVCC (head gasket x 2) -1983 Plymouth Reliant K (blown transmission) -1989 Peugeot 505 Wagon (telephone pole) -1996 Saturn SL2 (rear-ended) -1987 BMW 325is (spun into retaining wall)

    Sold: -1998 Daewoo Leganza -1987 BMW 325is -1988 BMW 325is -2001 VW Jetta TDi -1994 Mazda Miata

I've had probably close to 80 car, but the M3 above is the one I sold BEFORE I was done with it. There were cooler cars, faster cars... but I see that one at the track, competitive, doing what I built it for and I can't help myself from a little self pity. I bailed too soon.

    A few, I suppose...

From a practical POV: my '90 Ford van. If I had taken only half the $ I spent buying my damn truck and put it into the van, I'd have a much more useful utility vehicle...

My '91 Integra. With 229K miles, the body was worn out and tired (half the accessories didn't work anymore)... but the engine still ran well and it would have made a damn good track-rat/auto-x/hill-climb car...

My g/f's '97 M3. 78K miles. Super-clean. Unmolested. Never abused. Could have had it for $14K back in '04... and in hind-sight, probably would have saved me a fair amount of money I spent on various project cars I've bought and sold instead...

I have owned a lot of cars (not as many as some of you though). And strangely, the only one I truly miss is this one:

Slow, handled like a pig. I can't explain it.

this is the DD I miss the most. Probably because we were living in Hawaii at the time.

I miss my C4 Corvette. Had the Z51 sport suspension and incredible handling. On the other hand, a 200,000 mile Corvette was not the best choice for a 40 mile (each way) commute...

ive never sold anything... traded in my 95 big block geo metro for my M3 but everything else ive ever owned i still do....

though i'm sometimes tempted to sell the M3 (i cant help but look at it occasionally and see 5+ challenge cars) especially when its just DD duty as theyre not really the best at that, each time i autox her i fear if i did i'd regret it later.

MKII Supra - It caught on fire and burned, so not my choice to get rid of it. It was slow and didn't handle very well, but I loved that car.

my first 944 Turbo - I blew the engine and sold it as a parts car. Fast forward about 8 years and I had bought another 944t that got demolished by a semi. I bought it back from insurance and if I'd just kept that other 944 could have just swapped the engine and a few other parts and be back in business. Instead I'm STILL doing bodywork on it....

    My '84 Corolla SR5.

Sure, it was slow, and it wasn't a GT-S, but I had a lot of fun driving it.

I basically gave it to one of my friends after some jackass hit it, which caused the insurance company to total it, and I was moving anyway and had to get rid of something.

I chose to keep the '78 Corolla we had instead, which turned out to be a giant rust pile, and got hocked before I finished swapping a 3T into it.

Like I just said in the latest 928 thread, I miss my 928S4 the most. I knew the instant the buyer drove away that I should not have sold it, and that never happens to me.

1970 VW Kombi Camper. Lost oil on the higway, tried to limp it to a gas station 1/2 mile away and it died. It was the worst possible time in my college career and I couldn't afford to have it towed or get it out of out of impound.

I regularly dream about my '82 Rabbit (Neuspeed sway bars, Tokico shocks, A008Rs) -- 1.7 fuel injected engine with a horrible 4 speed. But, it was hte first car I ever worked on in anticipation of competing in autox. VW Racing Beige, with Electric Butterscotch interior.

I kind of just abandonned it at my dad's when I bought an 87 CRX Si. Eventually we gave it to a neighbour. I also miss the Si. Sold to a young guy when my son was born. The new owner tastefully modded it, and it was glorious until t-boned. He was okay. The car, not.
