Thanks, Dave (...I think
) for clarifying that. I always thought that bosozoku was just a "butt in the air" look to a car.

I was wrong. Google just explained to me that bosozoku covers a variety of bad ideas. Honestly, there should be a bosozoku-themed lemons car.....build the cage to resemble their exhaust pipes.

We could always go with a Bosozoku! theme with the Civic. It's not too late. ![]()
I heard that Bosozoku came about as a rebellion thing. Basically once you inspect/MOT the car it's good for x number of years. So the youth would do everything possible to the car that would make it fail the inspection (because it has a current legal pass) and flaunt it to the authorities.

Amazing what these people do to cars.

Well, the root of the word is boso...or bozo...

I like some of these boso cars. The red one with the star exhaust is a favorite. It's sort of whimsical, and there is a method to the madness (I think....). I see it as a cross between art, and a funny joke. Seeing them move around almost has a MadMax-Bartertown feel to it.....if they had cast HelloKitty instead of Tina Turner. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_6yeRg3kAo&feature=related
As a car nut, I hate it... but as an artist I find bosozuko really cool. It's kind of an art form that uses the vehicle as a canvas.
The cars that are bosozukaed look to be the mid-90's Chevy Luminas of Japan. Nothing particularly compelling was lost.

I wonder how much the CibiƩ marketing department would pay the guy with the 15 exhaust pipes if he agreed to remove their name from his car forever?

Me too. I really want to build one out of some iconic American car(Taurus, maybe???)...and proceed to take it to every Midwestern car show I can find. ![]()
