    And i so excited!!!!

I leave here at 6:10am on Thursday, arriving in San Diego at 8:56am that same morning.

I figure for my first fly and drive, may as well make it epic, right?

Tips? I'm hoofing this one alone. I have one stop mapped out already, will be in Grand Junction, CO late late Thursday night/friday morning, catch a few hours sleep, then see if i can't bug Keith for awhile...

Lots of fluids, beef jerky, and loud music?

Considering the Keith stop, my guess is your are buying something zoom, zoom? Details?
Sounds like a grand adventure. Last time I was in San Diego, a co-worker and I talked of turning in our plane tickets and driving back instead.

    Lots of zoom, zoom!

04 Ti Gray Mazdaspeed Miata with a whole host of FM goodies. Big Enchilada and upgraded turbo. 68k miles, looks to be in great shape, and the seller is a pretty cool guy on top of that. (So cool in fact, that he's leaving the Sirius radio and subscription on the car!) Reminds me, though, i still need to call FM today and set up some dyno time to see what can be squeezed out of it. I found a dyno on FM's tech archives of a car that sounds identical that made 270whp/260wtq.

    Mine for $12k.

The only catch is that i'm trying to be back home for work on Monday, but i do have until Wednesday granted off. Wish i could spend a good 2 weeks just driving around. Oh well, should be fun anyways!

And to prove my sickness.... i've already got parts on the way for it.

Wow, that's quite a fine cross country traveler!
Don't let the daytime sun beat you up too much. Fantastic nightime, top-down driving. Some clear glasses like motorcycle riders wear can be handy at night. Even though you are behind the windshield, if you are tall like me the glasses are welcome relief.

Books on tape/CD. Buy something 8 hours or longer.

    Looks like a fun trip!

I have dreams of doing the same thing, buying a car in Cali and driving it back to the east coast.

I'd like to take about a couple weeks to do it, though.

I want to do this with a bike. Fly to the far left coast... pick up a new bike and ride all the way back to PA via the southern tier - and take about a month to do it. Unfortunately... this whole employment/marriage/family thing would probably dissolve during my absence. Probably before I even got across NM.

Good find. $12k seems like a great deal to me. My MSM is stock and I would rather keep it than to sell it for that price. Plus you get the big Enchilada to boot. Beware of the Titanium Gray curse though.

Yeah, the Ti Curse has me worried.

But right now, dealing with a hiccup at the bank. Due to a couple circumstances, we had a regional manager approve the loan two weeks ago.

I guess "approve" is not the same thing as "sign off."

We called the bank this morning to see if they needed advance notice before we came and picked up that much cash.

Well, because we went over their head to the regional manager, the regional manager needs to sign off on it when we bring in bill of sale and proof of insurance.

Guess who is on vacation all this week? (This bank seems to be bad about this, it was a nightmare trying to get anything done the first time.)

Yeah. I'm leaving work now to rain curses down upon them and get my damn money.

Good luck with the bank. I like Ti gray myself, but I'm glad mine is Lava Orange. Are you flying with $12k in cash? They guy won't take a bank check? The TSA is going to be all over you, be prepared for some extra groping. They guy doesn't want you to meet him in a dark alley does he?

Is the bank big enough that they have a San Diego Branch Office where the financial transaction can take place?

Hahah, he'll take a bank check, but he uses Chase. So i'm pulling cash from this bank and then getting a check from Chase and flying with that.

Assuming of course i don't get dicked over, that is. I'm really displeased right now with these people.

We got our Jeep with them, and it was great. This time around, not so much. (The loan officer we worked with isn't there anymore, and the replacement seems to rarely show up to work, which is why the regional manager was brought into it.)

Nice car, nice trip, good luck with the bank.

back when, I used to love telling people I flew from Philly to Atlanta to buy a 5-year-old Neon sedan. For a rust-free '95 ACR with 50k on it, it was well worth the trip.

Considering that's probably the last place left with clean ACR's, i'd consider it too.

I assume you're going via Vegas? If you plan to go North through CA and then across to CO via I-80, I can provide a location for a pit stop if necessary.

No news. I got the insurance documents for the car ($110/month OUCH), and dropped everything off at the bank, and the loan officer there was supposedly going to get to work on it after her meeting was over.

Yeah, well... bank closes in 30 minutes. I'm about to give them a call after giving her the benefit of the doubt for the last few hours, but i'm sure she's already left for the day.

So if that's the case, i'll be on the horn with the OTHER regional manager bright and early tomorrow morning.

It would just be my luck to get screwed out of this.
