    Do I see damage?... DAMAGE!

Yes, they apparently had a demo (for magazines etc.) that allowed damage a while back. I am not sure if it applies to all cars though. I wonder how they convinced the manufacturers to agree with that.

They didn't. The game will feature damage for all cars, but there are two different damage models. One for street cars, and another more involved model for race cars.

    Can they simulate unintended acceleration?

    You know, for practice...

Combine it with a Cobalt and you've got an automated drag car.

By the time GT5 actually arrives it may well have flying cars.

The most recent news I hear is that GT5 will also likely feature rollovers, too, though the cars will be self-righting after a delay.

it's vaporware, it seems like they pay way too much attention to the aesthetics of the game instead of gameplay....so let's hope they can umm get the gameplay part down or Forza will still be king.

There's a very limited number of cars that will actually show damage. Mostly, just the cars that will be new to the game since Prologue.

I still think online will be a big part of this contest. If Sony/PD don't screw up the online like MS/Turn 10 (who, I know, may not have exactly been a willing partner in that mess) did, the king is dead.

Well, wouldn't that be most of the cars in GT5?

BTW: Big props to ya, racerfink. You beat the hell out of me with the Stock Cars the other night..

If a car was in ANY previous iteration of the Gran Turismo series, it will not have damage modeling. So it might be in the neighborhood of less than 10% of the cars in the game that have it.

That's interesting to hear. Most of my favorite vintage cars were already in 4.

And really, I was just trying to make a joke about Prologue..

Funny thing, if you saw the actual sales of the GT series versus forza, you'd see that GT was king. The only way forza came anywhere close was because it was given with a system for free.

Plus the point of how they keep pushing back the release date..

Most recently from march to some unspecified date supposedly in 2010, but they have been promising and pushing back for how long now?

I was faced with the choice between a PS3 and a Xbox 360 for xmas this year, I choose PS3 because at the time GT5 was coming in the next few months, then march, now who knows when... GT series may be king, but I can be the only fan really getting ticked about how they play "Oh, its coming soon!" "SUCKA!, try in a year or so!"

i will still eventually buy a PS3. I still am a GT fan at <3, and blue ray is a nice bonus. Halo? Meh...racing is where its at. Bill Gates can keep his mod-this-and-die toolbox, I want no part of it.

How's that even fair? The GT series was on or near it's 4th iteration by the time the 1st Forza was released. GT already had an established fan base.

That is not at all what I have heard. My understanding is that all cars will have damage, with the race cars having interior damage modeling.

Honestly though, there are so many rumors about this, it is hard to decipher what is and what isn't. But your post is the first I have heard about any "if in any previous iteration" thing. What is your source?

Again, for most cars, it's gonna be damage like it was in GT2. You'll feel the damage, but you won't see it. So, if you drive head on into a wall at 120mph, the car will show a scratch on the hood, and pull a little to one side. For the new cars that they felt like modeling, the front bumper and hood might fly off, or be badly askew.

I don't call that damage modelling for the majority of the cars.

It's in every press release talking about damage that's come out in the last few months. Most cars will show scratches, but that's it.
