Well, thanks to Delaware's new-ish "hands free" law, it's time for me to join the Borg / Lando / pretentious shiny happy person crowd and get a bluetooth headset.

This is the kind of thing you can spend $19 or $190 on and have the quality and functionality be a total crapshoot either way. Anybody have particularly good or bad experiences to share on their brand/model?

It will be used with an iPhone 3GS and also probably with my PS3 for gaming chat. Also, standard Apple earbuds are WAAAAY too big for my ear openings, so that's a data point to consider too.

Thanks in advance for any input.

By the way, I'm lumping myself in with that happy person comment. Anybody? Bueller?

I've got a Jawbone 2, very happy with it. Got it at Costco for less than $70. The first one stopped working, but it was very promptly replaced by the manufacturer who was very pleasant to deal with.

It came with a car charger, but was only available in black at Costco.

I use mine with an 1st generation iPhone, my GF uses the same headset with a 3GS.

I got the stereo version of the headset below for work and I love it. I got the 815 for my wife for Christmas and she also loves hers.

The Jawbone 2 is good. I had the Jawbone 1 also given to me - good too.
There is a Motorola product that has a neat feature in that the "boom" folds and when you open it to answers a call. This is nice if you typically keep the earbud in your pocket while not using.

My co-workers tease me but I still believe in the wired earbub.
Never runs out of battery. Never looses contact. Cheap to buy and cheap to replace when/if you loose it.

Jawbone, Plantronics and Blue Ant are all respected names in the business.

Check out Parrot. I've got one of their older Minikit units on my visor, and it works well for me. I don't want something stuffed into or clipped onto my ear.

I've never had a pair of ear buds or a single ear bluetooth headset that would stay in my ear(s). I must be deformed.

I have used quite a few different bluetooth headsets but, the best resource I found to get an impartial view on them can be found at http://www.bluetoothheadsetreviewsite.com , they are constantly adding new headset reviews.

I just got a cheap Emerson at Walmart for $20, and it works just fine.

Since that law went into effect, I haven't seen a change in handheld usage. It's just one more thing to hide when they see the police car.

I've always used the wired earbud, anyway. It can be ackward at times, but they're cheap and I tend to lose things.

My son's Sony car stereo has Bluetooth built in.

Keith ...at the other end of the state.

If ignorance is bliss, why aren't more people happy?

Yeah, this is unfortunately true. I got held up on 1 by some moistened bint in a little Merc C230 gabbing away. I finally got around her and stuck my hand out the sunroof making the "yap yap yap" gesture (not even the finger!). She then made a point to pass me again so she could flip me off.

Nice to see a fellow First Stater on here.
