Is there a trick to using the site? I can't register or search because it wants me to verify images that aren't there. I really, really, really hate those captcha images.

Anyways, anyone want to clue me in on the secret handshake?

Those guys are mean over there. Watch for along time before posting.

    Seriously

Double seriously. I enjoy going there, though.

The captcha image doesn't work on my end, either. Fire off an email, this is abnormal for them.

I've have some misc problems with captcha images on less mainstream browsers (like Safari). Try firing up Internet Explorer to register.

And CC isn't bad. I think it's very useful. If you think those (we) guys are tough, just remember what John Wayne said:

Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid.

I've been a member of CC since before here. Something like dec of 2001 or so. I think I have all of 35 posts. There site is VERY useful if you are interested in mostly non-biased technically based information. They can be.. Tough.. But like grizzled old men, they usually are speaking from experience and trying to help. Honestly.

Last I heard, you had to have an existing member "invite" you to join.. Have they changed that?

Of course, it's been several years since I've even visited, let alone posted there.

I found this at the end of their rules, dont know if it will help you.

If you don't include the word "shasta" in the title of your PM request for full access, you won't get activated. Simple as that. Don't spell it wrong, now

C-C tends to have a zero tolerance for assclownery, which I find refreshing. I love the place. GRM is pretty self-policing also, but if you spend time on 'typical' car message boards you know what I'm talking about.

The level of useful tech on everything from racing fasteners to which washing machine is best is just amazing.

I don't think you currently need to be 'sponsored' to get in (like I had to be) but if Baxter can't make it in I'll lend him a hand.

I was a regular there until I happened to question someone's stance on driftng. No, they cannot have an adult conversation about something without becoming flaming asshats. Low tolerance for assclownery? That's all they ARE. Effinig BS. They banned me for being open minded and put "drifter" under my user name. Never drifted in my life nor do I feel the need to, but man, do NOT even THINK of having an open mind over there.

Seriously, I'm still pissed off enough to want to blow their server up.

What's nice about corner-carvers is there are a pretty good contingent of real racers that post there and for the most part isn't full fluff. Certaintly a welcomed relief to all those know-it-all proffesional DE type racers. You know, the ones who are "ridiculously fast" but there lap times in their 300hp car are slower than the Spec Miata track record.

Wasn't there a pre-existing ban on drifting threads? Ignore the rules and get flamed. And, you're lumping me in as an assclown with your statement. I'm a lot of things, but assclown ain't one of them.

Yes. And "Kills" threads. And lots of other things.

However, I've seen some threads on the technical aspects of drifting they let "slide."

I tried to register and ran into the same issue with their image verification thingy not being visible in IE or Firefox.

I didn't START a thread, I responded to a comment about drifting in a thread about drifting. There's a real difference.

    The internet is serious business.

I like their retarded UPS guy thread.

In general, I'm not big on communities that are confrontational the way they are. Rules like "you have to have a 'real' email domain to register" and then how they go about running off folks who don't fit the mainstream mold irk me a bit.

But, those shortcomings are generally superceded by some really, really good content.
