Looking to get into the smallbore racing scene, I am looking for a HSR legal car. Thanks for any leads, jr

Jr - If you like Bmer's this could be a good start. I don't know what class HSR would have in or what you would need to change from SCCA legal to HSR vintage legal. My guess would be very little. The 2002's that race vintage here in the NW are always pretty fast with little wrecking between races.

I believe Duane Matejka's '62 P1800 is for sale. Duane won the Volvo Historic Series with it four years running (that's not a series limited to Volvos by any means -- they were one of the sponsors), and it's HSR legal.
This is a fully developed race car and is not likely to be cheap... but I can put you in touch if you'd like.

Jr - You could do a lot worse than this if you want to run in the small bore series.

This one might still available. It's on the left coast but that shouldn't stop you if it fits you needs.

That's just a motor. The car it was built for has been sold (had another motor in it).

You would need to be careful about buying a Bugeye with a 1275 motor. Not all organizations accept them since the Bugeye never came with that motor. I dunno about the small bore cup.

I'd check into the pre-1965 thing, too. GRM says pre-1965 in one place and pre-1970 in another. It also lists the 1275 motor in the Sprite, which wasn't available until 1966. Also, most organizations will allow a later car if it is identical to the car manufactured at the cut-off. For example, there is no practical difference between a 1970 MG Midget and a 1974 1275 MG Midget.

Your right the Bugeye never was offered with a 1275, the NW region of SCCA which sanctions our races does allow Sprites/Midgets to run with that displacement. In turn, the vintage club I race with SOVREN doesn't. I haven't read the GRM small bore requirements but anyone wishing to run in that class should read them, know them, and live them. BTY I don't run in the small bore class, but have encountered them in my grid on occasion.
