the latest up-date of the tr3 in "development Cycle" left me slightly underwhelmed. The claim of 138HP at the wheel seems low to me after all that work. Not to brag but my tr4 was tested at the crank to 153Hp@6800rpm By Prather Racing. It is only 9.0/1,stock carbs and distributor/with points. The trick is in the head work and the stage 3 cam.I would have hoped that your guys could have done better,or maybe I just got lucky with mine??

My guess is Tim and the guys at Abacus know that it's not HP that wins races...................it's torque. Plus higher horse power usually means higher rpm (6800) which always translates to more stress and motor fatigue. You can't win any race if you don't finish.
I enjoyed the indepth article, keep us posted on your season.
See ya at the track.

Prather Racing does great work. I don't think your hp numbers have much to do with luck, more like years of experience building championship cars. They are top notch.
Tim's TR-3 is pretty darn stout. Keep in mind that his quoted figures are at the wheel, not the crank.

MC,
Figuring 20% loss through the drivetrain.. the CMS TR3 comes out to 172.4bhp (flywheel hp).
