Hello, our SCCA Historic Racing Group has a new website.

We're running a few non SCCA events this year and wanted to invite other qualifying vintage car racers to join us (the other events too if you have an SCCA license). There's a schedule with entry information as well as pictures and car classification/ eligibility.

Our first Non SCCA event of the year is next week at NJMP in Millville, NY. We're running with the Vintage Trans Am series in support of the ARCA race that weekend.

If you have any questions or comments send them to me or use the email function on the contact page.

    thanks mike

I just received the entry list for this weekends event at Limerock. Nearly 150 cars, some pretty rare, it's going to be almost as fun watching the other groups as I'll have racing.

I just updated the HRG website with some pictures of our weekend at Limerock with the Jag club. For the last session, the in car camera with started up in timed interval mode instead of video mode. Interesting effect, snapped a picture every 10 seconds or so throughout the race. I was able to get some different views from the cockpit.

My car is still off all season, nearly 12 seconds a lap off my normal times at my home track, down on power after the head rebuild. Found low compression on a cylinder, going to look at it tomorrow, see if I can fix it before my next event Fathers Day weekend, back at Limerock.

I've been on vacation for a week and checked in today. The builder didn't like the look of one of th connecting rods, the cam hit it when it came apart so it set him back a week or so. Promised to me for this Friday, we'll see. I'd like to have it for Watkins Glen on 7/23. I'll be running two classes that weekend, H-Prod and Historic plus it's a double race weekend so I'll have 8 track sessions to sort things out.

I've been busy at Limerock, there have been two more events since the Jag club in early June, regular SCCA events. The valves on my current motor seem to be sealing better, I've knocked 6 seconds off my best time from the early June race and I'm almost down to my usual lap times. I'm still giving away 6-800 RPM top end down the main straight but I'm carrying more speed through the turns.

All in all not a bad year so far, 8 class 1st places and 6 - 2nds. It's true the more you race the better you do, I feel comfortable in the car from lap one now, no worries about how it's going to perform.

In reply to OFracing: Mike, it's nice to hear that the race season is going so well, in spite of a few mechanical set backs.. Congrats on your class wins, 8-1st's and 6-2nds is impressive. I can't wait to get to the track and start learning the ropes from you guys, it will be a real pleasure and honor.
