    Andre,

Like many other CMS readers, I have been following your efforts to get into vintage racing. Your hard work, determination and enthusiasm are inspiring.

Now that you are on the eve of realizing your goal, we're all hoping that everything goes well for you at VARAC's Mosport vintage festival. Go Andre!

Seeing as I live about an hour from Andre, I'm going to travel 4.5 hours and hopefully bump into him at the track... He'll find lots of support from his co-racers...

Hey Jeff !!! I see you still have the Capri. How many years has it been?

    Warren

Warren? Warren M? WOSCA, the yellow/gold Mini. Warren who could pedal a VW around WHRRI faster than most of us could dream of doing?

    Small world.

Capri, yes. Volvo too. Rally disease in remission, racing disease has struck again. No chance of recovery. Going to Mosport this weekend for the vintage racing. Therapy.

Hoping to meet Andre on the track sometime this summer. I'm afraid that he'll be a grizzled veteran by then.

I've been living vicariously through Andre's exploits ,just like others on this board. If I were to back to racing, I'd be looking at vintage racing for the next act, too. Enjoy your weekend at Mosport and say "Hi!" to Andre from a fellow Canadian. I'm going to Mid-Ohio for the Rolex series on saturday.

Well done André...I didn't catch up to say hello but from my track side perch(s) you looked to be having a good, solid, successful weekend. Car sounded right and you were getting more comfortable as the weekend progressed. Congrats..

    Thanks guys.

Blurred eyed right now. Trailed suffered a failure and well I did not get home till 4am this morning. Got repairs and drove another 4 hours to retrieve the trailer and race car.

Sunday on the last race I turned a 1:54 before the exhaust fell off ;)

The FIAT and I gel'd very well indeed and I slowly began to explore her limits and abilities. I think we're going to have a good future.

Photos and videos to follow. I'm too tired to think and have a house to box up and move.

THANK YOU TOO EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!!

    You guys are awesome.

BTW when a Mustang gets loose beside you going wide into turn 2 you learn a whole new meaning of life. WOW. What a thrill.

I did want to try a run in the rain, but the session got black flagged so I missed my chance.

Still I want more and have a to do list a mile long before I will let the car loose again.

    Picts soon.

Nice to see you and others at the track Andre' and glad you and Fiona made it through fairly unscaithed.. Sorry about the exhaust, we noticed while scrutineering in pit lane it looked very low to the road and one of the team was going to mention it to you but perhaps missed you later in the day as I did.

Hope you get it sorted and catch up on the shut eye..

    Nice! Looked great!

You had a good little dice going with that MGB-GT around mid-video. Early on, was the blue roadster another 124 Spider?

I would have been up there with you, but we bought the house this year and that's kept us busy. It was great to see the track from an in-car cam. Decent run-off in most places and some elevation change. Looks like fun. Hope to make it next year. I recognize some of the cars from events that I have run (the green 124 sedan for example).

You happen to like the CMS love on the front dash?

It was a great weekend. Over way too soon now. My racer is packed up and will not see me till we get to the new house.

2nd half of the video is currently being uploaded.

Andre, Looking good! What camera did you use to capture the video?

One thing i noticed while watching the video is that your steering wheel is in the stock position and your arms are extended. Good for Sunday drives not so good for racing. You can add a 1" spacer under the steering/pedal mount to lower the wheel with out any issues, Then get your self one of those quick disconnect steering wheel adaptors. What you want to have is your elbows bent at 90 degrees or less. Its makes alot of difference on how you can control the car. I will try to snap a few photos for you on how mine is setup.

Great Video's Andre' and good advice from Ted that I'll remember as I put together my car this year.....

  • André Rousseau

    June 28, 2010 12:59 p.m. André Rousseau HalfDork

I had my seat forward, but then my knees were getting into the wheel. I'm going to do as you suggest. Move the steering shaft a touch and get a quick disconnect to move it closer.

    Improvements over time.
