I'm pondering running DOT5 Silicone fluid in Brutus but not sure it's the best idea. I like the fact it's not so hard on paint etc. I understand that Glycol is now available in DOT 5.1 which may be even better than the Silicone for performance (boil point etc.), however it's still a good paint stripper which annoys the H out of me... I'm also a little worried about compatibility with my vintage parts but I would hope the seals will be OK with Silicone or Glycol.

So, what do you use? How's it working out? etc.

    4.1 cost availability.

I used 5 in the GT6 due to the fire wall.

In reply to AndreGT6: Did it impact the performance of the brakes at all? Apparently its a wee bit more compressible than the Glycol based DOT 4 or 5.1

    Vince -

My experience is that no LBC braking system likes Silicone fluids. The seals usually start to leak within a couple of months. If you've used a good quality 2K paint system on your car and don't plan to wash it down with the Glycol fluid, you'll be find. I've use this, http://www.hrpworld.com/index.cfm?tpc=Motul-RBF-600-Racing-Brake-Fluid&form_pr... and have been very happy. Never fade and never a problem with over heating even with my heavy weight big Healey.

I use SRF (this is Silicone as per Motorbikes) in the brakeline and dot 4. in the clutch line.
