So went for a drive and an ugly trailer followed me home.

Then I rang the nice people at Pegasus Auto Racing and had them send me the last few items I need.

The snow is melting fast. Spring feels like its about to happen. I could not be happier.

Race medical is booked for this month. 2 track days in April with race school in May. I'm busy learning how to heal and toe on my race sim.

Now if I can finish off the cage (box in 2 plates and paint), do the fuel cell stuff (cage it), new oil system (install it) and electrical upgrades (move the alt and install new kill switch system). The car might actually fire up in March and really announce Spring's arrival.

Good man, Andre! That's motivation, focus, and goal setting. (ref. gumption traps elsewhere)

Did I mention I work on the race car between 8-10pm at night after I put my son to bed...

Andre, glad to see it's all coming together for you. What are you going to use to pull the trailer, I hope you've reconsidered using the GT6. Second question, I don't see a cooler on the trailer, where are you going to keep the Molson? You'll learn it's tough to keep a crew interested with out beer.

    looking good

    Molson?

You know Canadian's don't actually drink that stuff right ;)

Tow vehicle. I have a friend's truck for the June race and my wife and I have decided on a Dodge Grand Caravan. 4L V6 with tow package.

Runs about the same price as a small/suv with just that more capacity.

IE Chateau Rousseau at the track.

How about Moosehead Beer? I still use mini van to tow my car if I'm going to a close event, like Limerock, and I don't want to drag out the motorhome. Added benefit, plenty of room to sleep in, beats a tent in the rain.

Pull out the center sections on your trailer if you don't need them. It'll save weight and will give you access to the underside of the car without the need to jack it up. Put a battery box on the front for the winch and mount an external light, RV Porch light style, to help when you get home at night in unhooking the rig from the car.

    Your reading my mine Mike.

I have plans for the trailer, but no changes till the fall. Pri #1 is passing my race school and getting my license.

I don't mean to gloat but we did have a rare dry spring day for ProDrives Test and Tune at PIR (Portland International Raceway) yesterday. I decided to burn up a 3-year old pair of Hoosier Vintage TD's I had on my old 72 spoke rims. I was a little disappointed it didn't rain I want to test my new Avon's........not really I'll take a dry day at the track everytime.

I was surprised how much the wires flexed after running on the Superlites the last few years. You can hear the tires rubbing on the wheel wells through the corners. The old rubber had about 50% tread left and I was very happy that the motor improvements carried out over the winter resulted in a 2 second improvement on my previous best time.

Oh this winter has been very nice (so far) I hope it keeps up.

I like your trailer BTW. So need to replace my fenders and do some paint work :)

I managed to correct the tight fit issue. A little hammer and grinding work.

So I will do a few more test fits to ensure I can remove it nicely.

Then the final welds and fuel pump hanger.

    Decent night, but I'm beat.

I will get some shorter bolts and weld them in to make the straps easier to deal with.

    Pan and paint.

    Looking Good Andre.

Are you having fun yet? I enjoy working on the car almost, but not quite as much, as racing it. It's satisfying when I design, build and finish (the hard part) something.

To be honest I am beat.

But if I manage a good solid few hours at night on the car I can make decent progress.

I actually cut out early tonight to take a break and relax with my wife.

I might take 2 days off in April. Its amazing what I can get done with no one home :)

Andre, when is the first track day? Will the car be ready? Did you get a pre season tech inspection? It's a good idea, if the car is ready, to get your Once A Year Tech done early. My first race car had a problem with the location of the belts. Simple fix but it involved cutting and welding. If I had waited until the day of my school, I would have failed tech and never made it into school.

    Errr.

Not ready yet Mike, but there are many things a foot.

Good stuff, but could affect my summer plans.

I have 2 track days this month, but will not use my FIAT. Race school is in May.

    Car will be inspected shortly.

July race has been ruled out. So its June or Sept. If those fail April 2011, but I'm not worried.
