2010 is off to a good start.
We bent up the A pillars.
Have some mods to do to the car itself to get the best fit for the cage.
So should have it tacked together soon.

Tacked the thing together. Even with just light tacks and not doing the front A pillar posts or plates to the floor the darn thing is strong.
The whole setup be pulled out of the car to have it all welded up nicely and to address the plate bending stuff.
Off site as my 110v Mig is good, but I'll trust my friend and his mad pro skills.

I will try and do more this weekend, but the temperature has to -22C before the windchill!
Freaking cold

Andre - You're a brave soul working in this cold... I didn't even want to repair the garage door opener last night.

Layers and thick blood.
I find after a long day at work 2 hours in the garage at night relaxes me considerable.

Andre, Looking good! Are you following any type of guid lines for fabrication of your cage? SCCA ? I have concerns about the placement of your diagnal cross bar at the top of the main hoop and where you might place the rear hoop bracing.

The diagnal is in a bit more inboard then I wanted, but its because I sit so far back.
What I might do is put another piece from the driver side B to the top of the loop.
I was trying to keep the bars away from my helmet.
Rear braces would be a 45 degrees.
Still have gussets and over head stuff to do.

Just checked the rules.
5.1.2 Diagonal lateral bracing of equal dimensioned tubing must be installed to prevent lateral distortion of the hoop. In most cases a lateral brace from the bottom corner of the hoop on one side to the top corner of the hoop on the opposite side is sufficient. opposite side of the panel with the plates through bolted together.
I believe I'm close enough, but have a scrutineer coming over soon.

Yes, it doesn't look like they call out a dimention to the corner, so like you said, you should be ok. My seat is not as far as back as yours, as I am only 5'10" but it is bolted directly to the floor with braces built under the car. Keep up the good work.

These "special" notched bars are driving me nuts.

Tig'd and mig'd over the weekend.
http://www.124racer.com/gallery/10/0214_Tig_Cage/index.html
I have some clean up and boxing to do this weekend and then I will paint the cage.
I'm thinking white for some reason.
Black would be easy, but might will keep it bright.
