Is there anyone who knows of anyone or has anyone ever seen a Ford Maverick run in A-sedan or B-production or Trans Am , either back when these cars would have run or in vintage ?
I have a crazy idea of building one and using Mustang parts .

I don't know of any but these folks may be able to help. http://mmb.maverick.to/index.php?s=586ed33674fb23379b1d8b2768d8711e
IIRC, the Maverick would have been classed in A Sedan (with a V8) or B Sedan (OHC4).
It would not have been a BP car... they were all two-seaters (Corvette, Shelby GT350, etc) and the (ahem) 911, which Stuttgart convinced the SCCA was a two-seat sports car.
I recall some Mavericks in road rallies back then, but not on track in SCCA or IMSA on the east coast.
We briefly considered one for IMSA Radial Challenge racing, but the Pinto and Capri used the same 4 cyl. engines, and they were lighter cars than the Mav. We chose the Capri, and later added a Pinto.
Interesting that Mavericks could have been raced with the four-cylinder. Not that it would have been that hard to do. I know they made four-banger Mavericks in South America, but they never built them for the US market. The six, with it's cheesey intake manifold cast into the head, was the pits.
A Duratech four would be keen! ![]()
