I like. It's everything wrong with the Miata, Z3, and Mustang... fixed.

I'm confused. I want it.
there’s a lot of debate on this subject—about what kind of car handles best. Some say a front-engined car; some say a rear-engined car. I say a rented car.

Slightly related... yesterday somewhere in Ohio, i saw a silver Z3 with a hardtop. It was SEXY.

So that's how you stand out at the local auto-x, win in a Miata that isn't a Miata...

I'd go $17,000, but $20k is just too much.

Only a short distance from here. It may be a good thing that I'm finally getting a parking pad poured & my driveway re-paved next week.

I sold a nice M Coupe for $17k. For the same money I'd rather have that back along with my 90 Miata.

Odd mixup, for sure. I wonder if he's stuck in the dark ages and calls SVT "SVO". Maybe he carries a "Mastercharge", too.

20k seems a bit insane. Sure, a lot of work went into it, but expecting to recoup is is crazy. $10k seems way more realistic.
I mean, none of the three cars it's composed of are worth $20k on their own...

So, it's a Monster Miata with a body kit. Whoopdedoo. I'd maybe consider it if it had an LSx with a T-56 behind it, and it then be worth 20K as a used vehicle. As it is, I can find a '90 miata for less than 2K (especially if it needs drivetrain work), a 5.0 Mustang and Tbird rear end for less than 5K. That leaves 13K for a Monster kit and BMW body kit. I am guessing that he paid a shop LOTS of money to install the kit, and that's where he's getting his 20K figure from.
That being said, I've considered doing an LSx conversion in combination with an Italia kit.

It's pretty well put together.
20k is an insane price though. Good lord.
I wouldn't pay more than 10 if there wasn't some kind of warranty. Who know what could go wrong. That's like asking for the problems of three used cars all rolled into one.

It's really only two cars...
The BMW part is just a body kit and nothing else.

I have never understood the Z3 body kit for the Miata. It doesn't make the Mazda a BMW and the Z3 isn't that expensive that if you really wanted one you couldn't find a good used one. And it doesn't improve the Miata.
That being said, I have about $20K into a Monster Miata, and I didn't even buy the kit. If you had told me up front that I was going to spend that much, I wouldn't have built it, but it works well and I love it. But,I wouldn't expect to be able to get $20K back out of it. Eventhough I can easily show where the money was spent on the parts.

I suppose it's better than a Miata drive train in a Z3 made to look like a Mustang

Sofa King, is that in the otter you got from me?
If so HOLLLYYYYY Shnikies! Hey you gonna bring that thing down to Mid-Ohio August 14/15. I'll be racing another miata and would love to see my old car. Plus I want to pick your brain about the v8 swap. Once I blow up the race engine I was thinking of going v8, but maybe not if its gonna cost that much.As for the Ziatang, I never understood rebodying a decent car just to look like another abundantly available decent car! Seems like a waist of time and money to me. To each there own I guess

Yeah Paul, I am almost embarassed to say that it is! Complete with "Otter" license plates!
It could have been done much cheaper, but once the donor parts turned out to be crap, I decided not to waste good fabrication on bad parts. I didn't have the energy at the time to hunt down another donor and try to stay on Challenge budget. That energy is back and I have another V8 Miata in the works, and so far it looks like I will be under budget.

This. Is exactly my reaction. It's like taking a 240sx and trying to make it look like an FC RX7, or whatever.
I'm sure it's fun to drive though . . .
