I'm sure yall are tired of tire threads like this, but I figure this is the best place to get real-world advice on this. I'm in search of tires for my Mini ('04 Cooper S, running 205/45-R17 runflats on OEM rims right now, likely going to wrap these tires around a set of Rota RBs but am undecided as of now), and am looking for something pretty high-performance, non-runflat, will last at least 10-15K miles, good feedback, great dry grip and aren't totally useless in the wet. cold/snow isn't that important to me. I'm leaning towards some of the ST-class tires (RE-11s and similar tires), or mid-low treadwear (350-180 treadwear) performance summer or performance all-seasons. suggestions?

The pseudo-ST type tires (200-300 TW) are really nice balance of longevity and dry grip with the added bonus of not being totally useless in the wet. Think like BFG G-Force Sport, Hankook Ventus EVO V12, Falken Fk-452, and the Dunlop Direzza DZ101.

*specs. That'll be whats on my wifes 05 Cooper S when the whatever junk is on it now wears out. I have them on my ms3 and I still cannot say enough good about them.

    Go fast or go broke.

I didn't see the *specs in that size, but evidently I can get them slightly wider and a teensy bit taller, which should work to correct my speedometer being 2-3mph fast at just about any speed. how are they holding up on your MS3? at the price, I think I can afford to get another set a few K miles earlier than other options, I'm just curious

I'm a fan of that class of tires as well for daily driver. We've been running Yoko S.Drives (300tw) on our Integra and I've been pleased with their balance of dry & wet grip, lifespan, and ride quality. I think the sidewalls are a little on the soft side for autocross use, but the compound is sticky enough to compensate for most situations.

That said, I haven't had a chance to compare them to their modern competition so I'd be interested to hear anybody's impressions. Overall, they feel pretty close to the Kumho SPT, but they're not made in our little 15" size anymore (if at all?).
