Is there anything bad to do with a corvair? Any engine in any position would be very cool and interesting.

I, personally, would put a Subie powerplant in the stock position.

I threw up a little myself.... but of what limited knowledge I DO have of the Hongs.... they seem to favor Hondas. the H22 engine made the most sense, for some reason.

    Go fast or go broke.

I could see a boosted F23/H22 hybrid back there.

Me? I'd probably put a saab 2.3T powerplant back there.

Actually, how about a WRX conversion? There's plenty of room up front, and you have to redo the damn rear suspension anyway.....

In reply to oldopelguy: I think somewhere around 2003 (Honda guys, please correct me), the Honda 4 cylinders motors swapped rotation (the 6's were always the same as everybody else).

I knew a guy who was running a touring car integra, converted to rear wheel drive. To do so he pivoted the intega motor and then made it run backwards with an aftermarket fuel/ign controller (and who knows what with the valve train) so it could turn the right way for the trans.

This was before the rumored rotation change in 03...

Has GRM ever done a Corvair build? Actually, I'd like to see an article on getting a rear engined car not named Porsche to behave at the track. Corvair/veedub/fiat et cetera.

I'm working on an AWD one- but mine's a convertible.

Subie bits. Still trying to decide if I use the WRX motor or the SVX motor. I've got both.

    Thoughts?

Most cool. I don't have anything particularly useful, but do wonder if th e H6 will fit in front of the Corvair's wheels? I assume that you've measured it?

You have both, the only appropriate thing to do is to use both.

The H6 and the H4 are the same width. Both fit fine. Both are 230 hp(+-). The H4 (2.0) is turbocharged, the H-6 is N/A.

    Maybe you are right, mndsm!

uhhh, no. That cars pretty solid looking. 4 doors = yuck, but it's got a lot of good parts to help restore a coupe.

Crown (mid engined V8) conversion with really good engine access? (since the engine is in the back seat)

I happen to know for a fact that the wheel track of a Corvair is almost exactly the same as a MazdaSpeed3.....

Or... put 6 or 8 large pulse jets that shoot out the back. As far as I know there is no restriction on reaction engines for challenge cars.
