    So I put a 5.4 in my P71.

why did ford not make them this way from the factory? it's flippin' perfect now.

Some fun tips; put your valvecovers on before installing the motor.

on the day you're putting everything back together, make sure there's a stock one nearby you can go look at.

The flexplate has to come from a Windsor equipped SN95 from like '99 or '00.

The reichard racing adapter plates are okay, ish. Took forever to get them lined up. I'll be pulling them for an aftermarket manifold as soon as funds allow. The good news is, I can probably get some of my money back on them.

Even though it doesn't look like it'll clear the stock hood, it will. by 1/8th of an inch. if you trim out the webbing in the right places on the backside of the hood.

pics would truly be boring. It looks stock, and that was a big part of my choice in motors. Unless you can tell in an internet picture that my deck height is an inch higher. I'll take some pics of the burnouts that follow, how bout that :D.

It feels like it's running a little lean and there is some faint part-throttle hesitation. It had around 5 gallons of ethanol in the tank, and it's been in there since October. I diluted it with as much 91 octane as I could. I'm hoping that's it.

Between the low end torque this motor makes, and the 3.73 gears I put in, the throttle response off the line is ridiculous for a 4000lb car.

The stock exhaust bolted right up, but because the heads are higher off the ground now, the pipe rubs in a couple places. I already dropped it off at the muffler shop this morning. I'm having them give me 2.5" pipe right off the manifolds. Back to a pair of flowmaster delta 50's in the stock location, then dumped before the rear axle. And no converters.

I'll still need to put the wiper assembly/tray back in, but I held off because I want to see all around the engine in case of leaks or whatever. I'm told I'll have to notch it once I get to putting it back in.

They probably never factory produced this combo for customer consumption because it would not sell in lage enough numbers, and it would swill even more gas than a "regular" Crown Vic or Gran Ma would.

Still, I congratulate you on building what SHOULD have been at least the real Mercury Maurader.

    Additional tips;

When you're hooking up the wire harness, there's an extra plug right next to the oil pressure sensor. It doesn't plug into anything so don't beat yourself up.

The high pressure line out of the power steering pump will feel loose even when it's tight. Apparently that's normal.

you're going to have to extend your egr tube because the egr valve is now a little further away from the exhaust manifold. I bought 1/2" stainless steel pipe at a hardware store. Cut the oem egr tube in half, bolt each half to it's respective place. The 1/2" pipe you bought will fit the inside diameter of the stock egr tube snugly. A little quick work with a mig welder, and it's all legit.

the next stage (probably in about a year) is a pair of trickflow heads and some appropriate cams. In between now and that time, a hardball'r intake manifold will probably be procured.

Did I mention the airbox, maf, and zip tube were all replaced with marauder parts? i did that too. nice and stock looking.

Well if a picture doesn't show the extra deck height of the block, maybe a video will show the extra horsepower you've gained.
