Is there a dislike button? Its ugly, crowded, and AFAIK you can't even access the forums from it.

Not to be harsh guys, but taking a page out of the MotorTrend/HotRod/CarCraft websites is NOT the way to go about it (which I've noticed the front of the magazines is starting to look like).

And why change? The other one seemed FINE. Change for the sake of change is not good, its a waste of time and resources.

    My 2 cents.

Meh...Im on the fence. I liked the old one, but dont dislike the new one, its just different. Sometimes change can be good...like brand new , fresh out of the package, still got the new smell socks are about the best article of clothing you can wear. But theres nothing like the fit of good old 2 year old dungarees, so I am opting out of forming an opinion on the matter...

Some of us still use the old square CRT monitors. That extra wide stuff is hard to navagate.

The only problem I have is the lack of a link for the forums. I come through the main page every visit and had to use a round about way this time. That and it won't fit on an old narrow screen. I have to scroll sideways to see all of it. I wasn't going to say anything until it was a problem for a few days. I figure it will take that long to work the bugs out of it.

I think it has potential, when it's cleaned up a bit.

Here's my criticism, since you didn't ask for it:

The tabs at the top are worthless unless you use some sort of pull-down menus (no access to forums and other sub-groups easily)

The "Latest News" graphic is clipped and looks amateur-ish.

Project Cars runs off the containment box and looks sloppy

"Come See Us" should be mixed in with GRM Events (Keep the page flow going better), with all four boxes lengthened a bit to keep the layout even

"Dozens of articles" feature section in the top middle is confusing and muddled. We need at minimum mouse-over commentary on what the article is about. Preferable would a small label under the picture as well. Why is the biggest picture on the front page NOT a link/mouse-over?

    Nit-pickier stuff to follow:

The grey bar at the bottom, "Mobile, Staff, Contact" etc is pretty bad looking, and all of that kinda stuff should be at the top... Oh wait, they already are!

The "popping text" on the tabs is annoying... Can you make the text static and maybe make the tab color or outline change? Thing of windows or any OS when you move over a menu option.

Having the whole latest news text as a link is kind of annoying, I think.

So there you go, my unsolicited free advice. It's worth exactly what you've paid for it!

I'm not sold at all on the new page, the old one was much cleaner and better thought out in my opinion. if you're going to keep this layout, at least get the formatting so that the project cars don't run out of the white box for that section, and provide a direct link to the discussion boards, whether as a tab at the top of the page or add dropdown menus to those tabs. but personally, I'd rather see the old main page return

    Formatting isn't right for IE6.

And I know you tell me to change, but we are not scheduled to update to IE8 until sometime this fall. All other browsers are not options, as they are not compatable with our intranet.

And I had to remember how to get to the forums, since there's no link.

And updating the site so it doesn't work with old, outdated stuff is hardly grassroots imho. Not everyone can afford to buy the latest and greatest machines out there. Or like me builds their own and refuses to give Bill Gates another dime. For shame.

I love going to the Pull-a-Part because the dollar admission is cheaper than most car shows and you almost always see cooler cars.

The old main page had some major, major problems on the back end. We're still working out some kinks on this one--just everyone chill for a minute. (Yes, I should go into politics.)

ok ok, just kidding, the wide part sucks for us non-wideys, can that be auto-fixed?

I guess I will get used to it but right now I am not a fan of the new page. Looks cluttered.

To HiTemp, Toyman and the others, there actually is a direct link to the forums. It says "Community".

FWIW, I have the same situation. I launch our ERP and intranet in IE. I do everything else in Firefox. Sometimes I even have them running at the same time.

Putting browser issues aside and recognizing that it's a work in progress, my worry is that design of the new page looks less finished than before and doesn't adequately reflect the polish of the magazine.

It's getting better by the minuet for me. The first time I looked at it I almost cried. Now it's looking more polished and working better. It still doesn't fit the screen.
