I'm planning on selling my Miata soon but I want to sell the hardtop and car separately to maximize my profit. The problem is, I don't have the soft top anymore. How hard do you think it would be to sell it like that?

I am just guessing but I think it would be very difficult to sell without a top. I wouldn't buy it without one. Having said that, there is always that one person out there that won't care or already has an extra one, doesn't need one etc.

Why not get a used soft top to put on the car, say from someone like yourself that wants to remove it from their car but its fine.

I got a nearly new plastic window top w/ zip open window + frame for $200 years ago to replace a ratty torn top with a broken zipper. I thought it was money well spent, no more leaks when it rained and i used that zip open window nearly every day.

NA and NB tops should fit, I think you'll need NA latches though.

    boosh.

Definitely sell the hardtop separate. Nobody really wanted to pony up the money for mine with the car, but I had it sold in about an hour at $1000 cash.

You should be able to pick up all the soft top stuff out of a junkyard, but weight the extra costs and labor of doing so against selling it separately. I have paid more for a Miata with a hardtop and would do so again, but not having a soft top is definitely a deal killer for most people.

I would at least try to sell the car first and give the buyer the option on the hardtop. Then you wouldn't have to be bothered with either.

I'd love a Miata with a hardtop, but wouldn't buy one w/o a top at all unless it was really cheap.

Get in touch with some local Spec Miata guys for a cheap softtop. I just picked up an NB top with 1 small tear, intact glass, AND a defroster for my NA for an insanely low price.

Buying a softtop to sell it makes sense. What I really want is just someone to come up and offer me exactly what I'm looking for with no extra effort from me

    I'm gonna butta yo bread

Then put an ad on Craigslist or something and try your luck. Nothing ventured and all that....
