In the next few years, I would like to have a really awesome street car. I will likely need a back seat since I currently have one kid and may have a 2nd in the next few years. Otherwise, I would just get a c5 z06 or LS miata. I like rx8's, but have been scorned in the past by spinning triangles and I think the v8 would probably get better mileage. Does anyone else think an ls powered rx8 would make a great summer dd? I would end up doing the conversion with the help of my dad, so I'm not worried about the lack of a swap kit (he's a pretty good fabricator). There may actually be a swap kit, I haven't researched it much.

Yes, quite possibly the best car ever. No swap kit I know of.

I know Painless will make a wiring harness, a shop here in town is rumored to be doing one of those swaps.

This theoretical car pervades my dreams....regularly. It would be everything I want from a car: nimble, efficient enough, "peppy", "4-door".
Then I notice that CTS-V's are 13k in the US now.... and I think of ways to convince my wife that the front grill isn't that bad....and she mentions that she loves M5's.
I'd LOVE an LS1 RX8.

I plan to build one out of mine in the next couple of years. With the hope that the dorito engine will make it's way in to a locost. I think an LSx RX8 would be the ultimate GT car.

I'm glad I'm not alone. Anyone know of an Rx8 with motor issues that still isn't under that extended warranty?

I remember reading about a local lot selling an RX8 with non engine for $4500 or so. Maybe it was a thread on here. It was determined that the previous owner had started an engine swap (LS I think), but never finished.

Miami CL, 4896.00, apparently runs.

There was another with a dissasembled engine, too, at 5K, but it's gone now. There are some possibilities out there.

That thing hung around craigslist for a looooong time. Haven't seen it lately, but then again I haven't been searching.

No phone number and underpriced is typically a scam.

Are you thinking of this one?
I almost pulled the trigger on this one instead of waiting for mine to finish up it's DD duties. It's been listed for a while.

I think an Lx Rx8 should replace 'Miata' as 'the answer'

I think an LS WRX would be the perfect car. But I do have massive wood for an LS RX-8.

Not to try and dissaude anyone from the idea because I like it as well, but you can buy FD RX7 rollers all day for $3-5k and the LSx swap into those is well documented with off-the-shelf parts. That is, of course provided you don't mind giving up the rear seats you get with the 8 or the better fit and finish/interior materials. The end result is lighter too, 2800lbs or thereabouts.

An LSx FD had been my dream car for many many years, but sadly the need for rear seats crushed that dream. Now I have been lusting for an LSx E46, and apparently an LSx RX8. Being less than 10 years old makes the RX8 even more tempting.

was just thinking about this the other day. as much as i like the RX8 as it is, an LSx swap might be perfect.
