Ok, got the Jetta towed back to our office on Saturday. Close inspection shows that the engine is still salvageable and it only has 100k on it! Other than that, it is thrashed! So, slowly ordering parts. Got the racing seat coming by the end of the week as well as my coilovers. My co-worker has all the parts i will ever need to rebuild this. Taking out the interior and cleaning it and putting it back together. Dont let these pics scare you... Give me a couple of weeks and it will be a completely different car!

so did the bumper come off before or after you got it on that crappy dolly?

very much looking forward to seeing the endresult on this.

what are your plans for paint / exterrior?

the bumper was already off, so we tossed it in the bed of the truck. I am planning on doing the "Storm Titanium" as the majority of everyone i asked seemed to like that color. Inetrior, just cleaning, replacing various bits and pieces. Want it to double as a daily and a cone killer...

    Interior pics?

How did the PO fill in the valley for the body trim? Was it done in a decent fashion? Interesting how that deletion changes the car's complexion.

I think I'm going to put up a CL add to buy a bunch of interrior VW pieces for a 2002 Jetta, but parts will probably fit from Jettas 1998-2004. Negotiations on price, will pick up. I need:

    • The driver's side interior door handle, gray. The handle has broken off, but the electronics still work, I need the plastic casing.
    • The center console, gray leather. Whatever parts are available. Really, I just need the top leather part, but I'll buy the whole thing if the price is right.
    • Driver's side front grill, black.
    • The outer plastic casing for the passenger's side wing mirror. Color doesn't matter, I have the VW spray paint so I can just repaint it.

So did the previous owner survive the wreck?

If I had a signature I would probably put it here.

wrapped my A and C pillars in suede last night. A yard of suede (they didnt have the dark color) cost me $9. Have a ton left over... Looks like they came out ok, just need to trim them to size...
