My buddy and I were discussing how even though we both have awesome cars (me a Boxster and him an Elise) but somehow we are not satisfied with the cars and have to make mods. So, we played a game: What's the least amount of money you can spend on an unmodified car? Rule #1. You have to pick a car made in the last 10 years but must use it's cost when new. Rule #2. You are not allowed to spend anything on mods except for better tires and an alignment. Rule #3.Cars available only in other countries are allowed but value must be converted to the US dollar. Rule #4. You must include a picture of the car you would buy. I'll go first. I would get a 2011 Boxster Spyder with PDK and Sport Chrono Plus-$71,460

Hard to beat a used (or new) Miata or Z06.
That being said, I think I'd go for a Caterham or some other variant of it, like Flyin' Miata's Westfield:

I know that turn key cars are or were available (or can/could be ordered), but don't know how much they go for. I'd guess around $40,000-$50,000.

I think I would have to put different wheels on it, but I have to put different wheels on everything. I don't think there is an OE wheel that I liked...ever.
On that note...
I'm good with that...V6 w/ performance pack, ie, the Mayhem.

It's a little bit more than your spyder, and in reality I'm sure I could find something cheaper that I could live with, but for some reason the first thing that sprang to mind was a ~$80,000 TVR Sagaris.

Price new around $40,000. I could easily drive this and NOT modify it. I grew up driving Datsun 210's through Impala's and Trailblazer's so I do not have a champagne taste. Yet.

Easy, the 2012 Boss 302 at about 41 grand.
Ever since I drove a friend's 2011 GT with the Brembo package, all the older Mustangs have been spoiled for me. I would pop for the Laguna Seca package, but I don't like the color schemes. If they only made the LS package on the 302's in black with flat black graphics...

I have modified EVERY car I have ever owned except for my current Z06. I wouldn't mind a set of headers or a cam, but I can live without them. I bought the car used, but the original window sticker shows about $75k.

I got a grand marquis a few years ago thinking I wouldnt be tempted to modify it. I mean who would modify such a boat.
That plan didnt work, I have since accepted that I cant leave well enough alone. Hell I have been modifying my lawn tractor lately.
