I am thinking of picking up a KIA Koup Sx for a daily driver My first stop by my local KIA dealer, who had a black Sx with the 6speed manual 2.4 ltr and a sun roof the salesman stated I would be looking a 17grand for the car. I haven't test driven it yet. Does anyone have, first hand exp with the koup seems like a good bang for the buck considering the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty

BTW the wife has been driving a KIA Sedona Minivan / tow vehicle for 4 years and 60000 miles with nothing more the oil changes and regular maintenance brakes tires etc

All I have to say is that they look funny in pictures but really sweet in person. The way the styling is "Blocky" makes me think new camaro.

Just think of it as a better looking Civic. And the reputation of Kia and the cars they are turning out is impressive.

In 2012 the Koup will get the Turbo engine from the Hyundai/Dodge/Mitsu deal.

That is what I may save up for.

If they put the turbo engine in the Forte, they really need to call it the Fortissimo.

They had a Kia Forte Koup at the last auto-x of the CCR SCCA region the other week.

It absolutely hauled ass! as in 13th raw time http://www.ccrscca.com/results/2009solo/ccrax10_raw.htm

That new Suzuki kizashi looks pretty appealing too with all wheel drive as an option, and around 200 hp. I could see myself driving it.

Haven't looked at a Koup, but the monster in law has a Spectra 5. That's been a great little car; other than routine maintenance and one set of tires it has had a bad battery and the vanity mirror fell out off the passenger sun visor. That's it.

No cones were hurt in taking of that particular picture. Subsequent runs I cannot comment for

Thank for all the input guys, looks like i am going for the koup come tax time. WOW on the autox times, could give my E-Stock 944 and 914 a run for it on bad weather days!

As for the civic, the SI is just out of my price range. (got too many toys LOL)

Lastly for under twenty grand I Dont have to fear parking lots LOL

I have loved my Kia Rondo so far, and my dealer wants me to trade in my POS Mitsubishi Mirage and get a Koupe. I told him to call me when the motor gets over 200hp, keeps the 6-speed and has a sports suspension. Then I will buy. As is, it is a great little car but not enough for me to take out a second car loan.

WOW.... that thing was FAST around the cones...

I'm also interested to see what class it should have been in... I may end up wanting one of these.

1992 Celica GT (FSP), 1993 Ford Escort GT (HS), 1990 Mazda MX6 GT Turbo (13.27@118mph)

weLL, that may be soon. The new Sonata has a DI Theta 2.4L with 200hp. Same engine as the Koup but with direct injection. I see a "sporty" version coming soon.

As long as it has a better transmission that the atrocity in the SI... I'll definitely consider one.
