16" when raised? Isn't that lower than a lot of jack stands? Other than the ease of lifting, I fail to see how this is better than a jack and stands. And with the plethora of quick-pump jacks around these days, I'm guessing the old fashioned technique would actually be faster.
16" is the bottom of the tire though... so it's prob higher then most SUV stand when at full lift

It seems they are avaliable all over europe and I have yet to read about anyone who was less than delighted with theirs but there are none in the states.

I am thinking the maximum weight of 1500KG(3300lbs) is why they don't bother selling them here. I can imagine lawsuits happening when someone gets under their SUV on one of these.

Yeah, if that's 16" at the bottom of the tire, the frame is going to be 24" up. If I have jack stands that are stout enough to get a vehicle 24" up, my creeper won't fit between them. The price seems insane though, when there are other alternatives.

assuming u have 8 inches of ground clearance... i need a low profile jack to be able to lift anywhere on my car about 3.5-4 inches is my ground clearance.... and price isnt all that bad... my floorjack was 700.

damn.. i hate it when i have ideas for cool products that already exist.. i dreamed this exact same thing up about 15 years ago- with one under each of the 4 wheels- but i don't think i ever told anyone about it..

The floor jack is make in the USA.
OTC used to make some damn good jacks.
Sometimes life leaves a hundred dollar bill on your dresser, and you don't realize until later that it's because it screwed you.

Bought mine from the Texas part..this is from Indiana.
In true Grassroots style I bought 3 for $385, got 2 working and sold 1 for $500. It stays where I can park on top of it and gets used a lot. Tires, brakes, oil changes, clutch, even an engine swap on an Escort were made easier. Often just lift the car to get it to a more comfortable height for working under the hood!

I don't know why, but I have a hard time trusting jackstands. I always have stacked spare wheels/tires under the car when I'm working on it. Plus my driveway has a slight incline, so I tend to use my wheel ramps as much as possible.

I have a feeling a slammed E30 isn't going to go over any of those.
The hydraulic ramps horrify me, but egnorant's pad lift idea intrigues me. I hardly trust drive-on fixed height ramps, much less 16" tall rickety hydraulic ones.

around here, they tend to be angled to make the 4X4 t rucks look more badass or something, so probably not the best idea for doing work under the car.

put your car up on a set of good -not made out of 16 gauge stamped steel with 3 legs- jackstands and try to push it off.. i bet you can't.

Exactly. It's like how some people are scared of water I guess. I use them, I just stuff huge amounts of things under the car to slow it down just in case. A jamaican taught me the wheel trick, cos most people there work with four scissor jacks on dirt.
the wheel trick is a good one.. considering the car will probably have a wheel or two off at the time.
