Lets play a game. Let's name all the cars that can get 30mpg highway and 13's in the quarter. Price is no option.

Kicker: The vehicle has to get better than 25mpg city. (That should thin the heard.)

    I'll start:

    Tesla Roadster

Most any 500c or larger motorcycle.

EDIT: If there is a similar post already started, direct me towards it.

3.7L Mustang only gets booted because of the city mileage.

I can get that kinda MPG out of my ms3... it's lightly massaged though, and it does take some grannying.

    Go fast or go broke.

    Pretty much!

I'd prefer real world, because I'd like to get response about cars that actually get the claimed MPG, not what the government says it should get.

    Solstice GXP

We have the coupe. It runs low 13s and gets 30 or a little better with the wife driving.

I'm pretty sure my 944 turbo fits the criteria as well, but I don't have 1/4 mile numbers for it. It's modified and I'd guess low 13s as well.

I think 4 cyl turbos will be well represented in this thread.

Should also be pretty easy to do on an.....

    You guessed it:

88-92 MX6 GT. Slightly bigger turbo, megasquirt, and enjoy.

Even with my current horrible half-assed tuning and cruising AFRs at 13.0:1 (seriously) I still get high 20s combined out of it.

several years ago hot rod did a feature with a similar premise. lsx and t-56 made an appearance in almost every car.

    In reply to Cotton:

How do you run low 13's with a stock Solstice GXP? Or isn't it stock? Mine did it in 14.2, and most if not all road tests were in the low 14's. I will agree about the highway mileage, although mine didn't do 25 in the city.

My turbo CRX si would meet these requirements.

I can see that. 6-speed C5 and newer 'vettes are known for getting ludicrously good mileage on the highway. A lightweight, aerodynamic chassis paired with a motor that makes a ton of torque at idle combined with appropriate gearing is a hard combo to beat where fuel economy is concerned.

I don't see getting 25mpg around town in one, though.

My past few cars were not too bad.

Stage 2 2002 WRX ran 13.7 in quarter and would get 24-25 city/ 28-31 highway.

Stage 2 2007 WRX would get 24-25 city / 27-29 highway. Never bothered to run the car at the track after the mods but it went 14.1 stock

1991 Challenge Turbo Miata would get 23-26 mpg but I never took it on the highway much and I rarely stayed out of boost.

I feel the 2L Skyline Gts-t could rock that with some tuning. OK, not just some, but I think it could get there.

Vw tdi can do 13s and 50mpg if you have deep pockets.

With a perfect drivetrain abusing launch at the strip and a little care with the throttle on the street, a stock S2000 just squeaks by those guidlines.

Diesel mustang. Eight second quarters, 35 MPG.

Well, if we're just going to make stuff up, I'll take a 6-second nuclear powered lawnmower that gets infinite MPG .

    Yup.

Also any small FWD 4 cylinder 90s econobox with a turbo on it. I've seen turbo Saturns that can get 40mpg highway. Any Civic, Integra, Sentra, Mazda, Focus, etc. should be able to do the same.

I propose a better question: What will get >30mpg combined/average and run 14s

He's not making it up, it's a real car. Did the Hot Rod Drag Week. 8's in the 1/4 with a crazy turbo-diesel swap and ~35MPG on the road portions. It was an SN95 chassis.
