  (AWCSIGGRMBIHNI) = Another What Car Should I Get GRM Because I Have No Idea.

  In the continuing saga of finding a car that I kind of like but don't love and then selling it. I sold the Cadillac, had a father son duo see it in the garage and make me a offer, solid profit. So its going to a new home on Monday.

  So back to daily driving the smelly truck, basic criteria below.

  Sub 90K US, convertible, comfortable enough to take my wife to dinner, manual or paddle shifter. The further away from 90K the happier I would be. Think bottom of the depreciation curve off new, 2-4 years old. The rarer the better, no 911's or their ilk. Carry two people as enough stuff for a weekend away.

  If it were not for the convertible criteria R8 would be the choice, if I could find a Bentley GTC for sub 90K I would be highly tempted.

  Short list has been,

  Vantage Vert. Almost impossible to find in 6 spd at a good price. Then hopefully its in good condition and passes a PPI.
  

  GT500 Vert. Easy, cheap, fast, reliable.

  911 Turbo Vert. Not really rare not a lot of fun to drive IMO.

  GTC, would have to be a heck of a deal, there are good GT's for sale in the 60k range, spurs in the same range. But not a vert.

  Anything else I am missing.

  Personally, I love the Vantage so much I'd wait it out for one.

  The hot wife thread is my to-do list. Except yours. O-dawg don't do fat chicks.

  The Morgan Aero 8 is a beautiful car and it makes all the right noises.

  A 1930's Packard 120 coupe convertible should fill all those wants except for the 2-4 years part.

  The nice part is, it will be worth MORE when you're done with it.

  Stay away from the V-12 cars their prices are too high. The straight eight cars are still quite reasonable.

  You can get into a relly nice '32 Ford for under 90k as well but I find them a bit cramped.

  SL63, Maserati, 650 BMW, Ferrari 430 or 360, Jag XKR

  You could get something older and classic like a 60's Vette or a Series 1 Jag etc...

  Oh to have this dilemma... I don't know whether you're looking for panache or something that you'll love driving. I'd think the Aston would give both, but I would veer toward the older- the XK-120 is berkeleying sharp. Good, reliable engine, and timeless body. Or a Healey 100-4. New(er)? I'd look at the XKR, and possibly (though not 2-4 years old) F360 spider.

  Had a couple high test beers and using my phone. Needs to have airbags and drivable five days a week. No more vintage cars. Do not need a warranty because I do my own service.

  Can be two seats, cannot be a Morgan I have looked nothing on my range in the right price range

  Funny... as much as I'd like, I clearly can't identify with this thread, 'cause the first car on my short list given your requirements would've been a Toyota MR2 Spyder. Clearly my mind (or is it my conscience?) can't think in numbers big enough consider things in the price range of anything with the words Astin Martin in the title.

  I actually really like the last generation MR2. But they were very underpowered and creature comfort was minimal at best.

  I know dead down that the Aston is the best car on the list for what I want. But the last few, four actually, that I have looked when the price was right. All had significant gaps in service history or need immediate repair to get them to DD service

  This thread reminds me of one of my wife's friend's husband. We were all out to dinner one night, first night I met him. I had heard he drove a 911 Turbo. I asked him about the 911, and he said, casually, "oh, I just traded it in for an Aston DB9." This is when we were all about 25-30.

  He saw my jaw drop and then, again casually, was like "oh, haha, no don't worry, it was a used one" as if that would make it less jaw-dropping.

  The moral of this story is....who knows. When I think of cars I'd love to have, none of them even approaches that price range, really.

  In any case, if I could afford a $90k car, I'd probably go find a $40k car, spend $15k on modding it to be better and faster than the $90k car, and use the leftover change to spend the next couple of months touring the best tracks in the country with it.

  Anyhow, my answer to the original question would be: Porsche 911 vert.

  Funny, though, hearing this question on a forum full of mostly people who think that a Volvo 242 missing a headlight and with "minor rust" is a dream car. So much so that I thought your original post was asking about a car with under 90,000 miles on it

  911 Turbo Vert would be my knee-jerk answer.

  Other than that... a Viper Vert, but for some reason i think you already had one?

  You could get an M6 convertible with plenty of change left over. A quick glance on ebay shows that manuals are rare, but available.

  I have, it melted all my shoes, I LOVED IT. But it tried to kill me on more then one occasion. So I sold it for a bit of profit.

  Wife was glad to see it go, kind of scared her, but I drove it for 12,000 miles. Then what killed me ever getting another one was my car killed its next owner. Seriously, killed dead.
  

  Second time out with it the new owner spun in the woods with his wife in the car and cut it in half when it hit a tree. Instant death for both.

  XLR-V I would love to get one just for a bit, but I think I will get tired with it super fast.

  SLK55 AMG but it seems you want 4 seats so maybe a Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series I am a fan of the Aston and Z8 (that would be my toss up right there.)
