There ya go. The wife has always wanted a Jeep and I have always had a soft spot for them given their propensity for offroad/bad weather hoon-ability, along with the drop top.

2010 new leftover, got a screamin deal on it, just needs cruise control ~$75, nicer OEM wheels and tires ~$300 takeoffs, running boards ~$200, and I'll be happy. Now if I could only find a hard top for <$500

Nice Raze. Let us know the mpg and the drivetrain combo. After this winter I've been thinking I could use one of those.

I've owned more cars than I can remember, but a Wrangler/CJ/whatever you call it is still on my bucket list. Very cool!

When I first read the post, I thought it said "Got a new wife for the vehicle". Now that would have been really impressive....

Wranglers look so goofy with the entry level wheels/tires but look great with the upsgraded ones.

Very nice deal! We rented a Wrangler Unlimited earlier this year and it was a nice drive. Cool!

Give us an idea what a screaming deal is on one of these things? I rented the 4 door AT and it was too heavy for it's own good or needed a more torquey motor. I'd think the 2 door would be better.

There's a YouTube video of a guy wheeling a bone stock wrangler equipped just like yours, it was impressive for being on all-season tires.

Out the door under $20k, which is good for around here given it's an automatic.

Yeah the 4 doors are waaay too much truck for the engine, the old straight 6 had quite a bit more torque, though weren't quite as good on gas, I honestly don't care.

I went base all the way because for the few minor things it needs, I'll take care of myself and the wife didn't want power windows or locks. Wheels and tires being on the list.

Pick up some Rubicon wheels and tires from someone upgrading. That will help the looks and capability a lot.

If you want to go aftermarket, these are the wheels I designed for it. Hubcentric, perfect backspacing, etc.

As for running boards - They often end up being something to rip off when you're playing in the dirt. I also designed these -

That work as a step, but are frame mounted (versus body like most steps / running boards) and work to protect the rockers when off road. I've seen these things dragged across a rock that would have opened the body like a can opener, with no damage other than paint on the rocker guards.

BTW - not a canoe. Just stuff I designed in a previous life.

Yeah the 4 doors are waaay too much truck for the engine,

    Agreed.

the old straight 6 had quite a bit more torque,

Nope, just less weight attached to it. EXTREMELY common misconception.

Quite right, I stand corrected, but the overall output is so darn close, I think I got confused over the rpms at which peak HP and Torque are made, which was quite a bit lower between the 4.0 and 3.8...
