Anyone want to move to Colorado? We just posted a job opening for, essentially, Chief Phone Wrangler.

Not only would you get to talk about cars all day, you'd be on a first-name basis with the local track owner and get your paws dirty on the coolest new stuff. And technical knowledge is always useful because it takes a load off the four dedicated techs so they can design and develop new stuff. We hire for the long term, so this isn't just a summer job. Tami, our current phone chief, has been with us since 1998.

Job posting said: Flyin' Miata has an opening for a sales position! This is a clerical (hourly paid) position. The duties consist of answering the phones, answering questions, processing web-store, telephone and drop-ship orders and other clerical tasks. We're looking for a Miata lover who has strong automotive parts knowledge and who has a desire to work at "Miata Mecca". If you're interested, please call and ask for Teri. Thank you.

    (970) 464 5600.

    You tempt me, sir.

I hate California. But I love the filthy lucre they throw at me to be here. :(

It's not about P3|\|15 or vag; it's about common sense, and let's face it, most people don't have it.

I don't really want to move to Colorado, but I do love Miatas. I may call later this afternoon if my boss makes me angry enough.

QOTW. Seriously. When you're in that death bed, think that your employer's gonna be there saying thanks?

Not sure if you've heard, but there are, indeed, universities in Colorado. Pretty good ones, I understand.

Huh. It's been close to 20 years since I almost managed to talk my way into a job in shipping/receiving at MiniMania.

I've got a wonderful girlfriend, an excellent job, a nice house in a nice place...

But of course I do still wonder where that would have gone, and still ponder trying to talk my way into moonlighting at a race shop around here to try to get the sort of experience I can't seem to muster on my own.

Yea, yea. Unfortunately I don't have the opportunity for free tuition at those schools that I have here.

For anyone thinking about it, CO seems like an awesome place to live. I've spent 2 weeks out there over the past 6 months, and I'm in love with it. My company recently opened an office just south of Denver. I was very, very tempted to pack my family up and move out there.

Somewhat cheap, too... i was doing some half-assed research last night to see what the cost of living change would be. Came up with about 16% more than Indy for Grand Junction, but only 6% more for Palisade.

I just checked real esate listings too. Currently my California property costs me about $4.5k/month. If I sold it, I could own several middle-class houses or one luxury house in the Palisades area - free and clear! Keith? Oh Keith?

You don't need to work at FM to do that!

It really is a great place to live. We can drive Miatas year-round and there are some truly awesome roads. No emissions tests Moab is about an hour away for your off-roading jollies. The mountain biking is as good as it gets. Grand Junction is one of the 10 sunniest cities in the US - it's about the exact opposite of Portland, for example. We get as much sun as they get rain. We get little snow in town, but you can be neck deep in the stuff by driving up on top of the 11,000' mesa on the edge of town. Vail, Telluride, Aspen and Crested Butte are all just a few hours away.

I moved out here to work for FM on the "if I don't try it, I'll regret it later in life" plan. Good call
