On my normal drive home 2 days ago a really clean, stock, Red FC RX-7 GTU (hardtop!!! ) was sitting in one of the usual cars for sale spots with signage. Since then I have taken myself 1.5 miles out of my way on a different route out of fear that I'll buy it.

    That's normal, right?

Normal around here would be a post about the new car you just bought. Pictures to be included, as well as a list of all the little things it needs fixed.

Me? I'll usually drive WAAAAY out of my way to see if a car is STILL for sale that I stupidly(?) did not stop and inquire about the first time I saw it. Then, I'll keep driving past every couple of days and by the time I make up my mind to buy...it's been sold.

For all the Northern Georgia folk, I think they would know this route:

Yep! There was/is a Dodge Neon, 1st gen R/T on the side of the road on 369 on the way to Road Atlanta. Would pass by it for 2 - 3 weeks straight. Had to start taking Buford Dam to stay away from it

What year was it? Was it a GTU, or a GTUs?

The S5 (1989 and newer) GTU is teh base model and not worth your time unless stupid cheap.

The S4 GTU is the bees knees.

The S5 GTUs is also the bees knees.

If you don't want it, please provide pricing and pictures for US!

    Thanks!

    S4 GTU hardtop.

I keep telling myself it must be an automatic with a blown engine so I won't stop. I am 100% sure I can afford whatever price is on the window, and I cannot resist that temptation right now...

Just be sure to post pictures once it's in your driveway.

To answer the OP question, nope, especially around here. There is typically only one way to get anywhere, unless you like driving around for 3hrs the "other" way.

If it is an S4 GTU, I don't believe they came with autotragics.

They ALL had hardtops (no sunroofs) unless dealer or aftermarket added.

If you no want... Give me info! I may want to add to my collection of 7s.

    Thanks,

I've been to Appalachia, and this is true.

Usually I have no spare cabbage, so the wants are pretty quickly subdued by the moths flying out of my wallet. Sitting at wal mart right now is an LS1 S10. :(

    Fixing stuff feels good.

For some reason when I read the thread title of "Ever had to take an alternate route to avoid a car for sale? " I thought it said, "Ever has to take out an alternator to avoid a car sale."

I was thinking the thread was about intentionally making your car a non-runner so you don't have to sell it. The actual title make a lot more sense.

I have the opposite problem of avoiding driving by the houses in my neighborhood which are hiding old, dusting, undriven and unloved Gen 1 RX7, 60s Ford Mustang, Corvette C3 T-top, Sunbeam Tiger - gets driven a couple times a year, 80s Porsche 911 3.2 Cabriolet, ZAP Xebra, damnit stop making me think about these things...

On my way to work there is an insanely clean red E30 sedan, and an ugly-in-a-cute-way AMC Eagle...

I want both...I refuse to let myself stop for either.

Crap! I thought you were based out of the NE for some reason.

I don't really care how good of a screamin deal it is. An FC is not worth traveling accross the country.

Thanks, and sorry for pestering you!

In reply to Javelin: For sale with a price? Yawn,.... Bored!!! I want something hidden in the trees. Something so obscure no-one knows what the heck it is or who owns it..

    Then the fun starts..

Nope. But I'm gonna have to start pretending I don't see Subaru and Scion dealerships pretty soon.

You'll need to log in to post.
