  Seriously, this is going to be my new hose reel.

  I picked up this damaged 911 wheel at the Hershey swap meet. It was cheap. I had hoped to put it on my friend's lathe and turn it to make the curb rash disappear, but he says that the lathe will only hold a 13 inch wheel. I don't really care if it gets out of balance because I don't intend to put it on a car, but I'd still like to clean it up a bit.

  Any suggestions, other than a file and a flapdisc?

  copper wire wheel maybe?

  Jack up the 911, bolt the wheel on, start it up and put it in gear, sand and polish the wheel as it turns.

  I've done it before on a set of VW wheels. Just make sure it's securely on jack stands and you'll be fine. The car will only be idling, so if for some reason it did fall I'm sure it would just die anyway.

  yeah thats how i would do it also... just don't start kickinmg the bumper and you shouldnt have a ferris bueller vision

  A palm sander will do a decent job for cosmetic purposes. How do you plan to mount the rim for hose winding? I have a rim I've been saving for the same purpose.

  Take the front hub/upright from a car with the same bolt circle and weld a flat plate behind it. A couple of lag bolts into a wall,or brick siding ought to anchor it. Weld the handle from a speed wrench to one of the wheel nuts so you can crank the wheel to pull up the hose. I intend to do it with a VW knuckle and a 4x100 wheel. The wall plate will just needs two flat pieces welded to it to mimic the flanges of a VW strut. You could probably drill a VW hub to get the Porsche bolt circle.

  Find a friendly shop with a decent sized brake lathe. If the guy has any imagination, you can use the rotor cutting adapter to trim the curb rash.
