    intresting...

Don't know too much about them, but turbo motors and small sporty two seaters usually mix pretty well.

I like the look of them, but they look more unsafe for a dd then the miata.

I've always had a soft spot for these, & I don't know why? It's also one of a few cars that can pull off tri-stars.

My brother bought one new. I drove it for a few months. It was called the rollerskate around our house. Light, nimble, powerful, and small for the time. It came out at the same time as the Miata and on paper it looked better. But, the FWD, strut suspension and large front weight bias made it not as much fun to drive as the Miata. But it was a lot more fun than my '89 XR4ti.

The XR2s were all Turbocharged. It is the "sporty" version of the Capri.

radio station I once worked at helped give away 12 of them. We got a bright blue one to drive around for the summer. It was a quick little car.

Shame the ones I still see alive around here are all running blown turbos

Looked at them when they were new, but ended up buying a Miata. The Miata was less expensive then if you could find one without dealer markup, and was more fun. Not that the Capri was bad at all, it's just that hit the market at the wrong time. A few years before the Miata and it might have sold in huge numbers.

I'm lookin to get an upgraded ECU with a fuel map for 15-16PSI. The OEM Turbo runs outta steam at ~15psi so i figure an HKS EVC @13psi, a drop in K&N Filter with the bottom of the airbox "opened up" and a fresh tuneup should be fun for a DD. Maybe later swap a different turbo from a mx6 or do a Turbocoupe compressor swap). I've heard the bottom end of these can handle 23psi on the bottom end with a good tune. I've had a Miata and loved it, but the Capri is a nice other choice that isn't as nimble but does present itself in a unique oddly appealing way. Anyone ever upgraded the turbo or boost on one of these?

Photobucket I got this off a friend of mine and was in the process of repainting it Bright White with Blue Pearl. S4020143 I had a friend make me a rollbar that the hardtop fit over. May consider buying this back as I know where it is.and use it for parts for the '93.

There are about 3 or 4 Capris in my area....though no XR2s, and nearly all are automatics.

There was an XR2 sitting outside a flea market my folks dragged me to about 2 years ago. That car had been sitting there for months, at least, it was the more desireable '94 model. I should have asked, but diddn't want to know why a car that looked okay was not moving for months at a time.

I had the NA version. I loved the car. Tune the suspension and I think it would be a fun "dare to be different" style ride. The Miata has some pluses on it but those things are so inexpensive and factory boosted.

You are what you do, when it counts.

I bought my mom a 1991 Capri non-XR2 auto for $500 last summer. She wanted a convertible so I got her one. It has some things in common and/or similar to my 1991 Mercury Tracer LTS.

The $500 Capri leaks no fluids, has working AC, and started up on the first try after sitting all winter. Maybe the best $500 car ever.

but diddn't want to know why a car that looked okay was not moving for months at a time.

As a mechanic i know the answer to that question is usually "The price is right". That is all the reason i need.

On the other hand, the most common reason for the price being WRONG is that the vehicle CAN move around for months at a time.
