Reading the wrap up in the latest issue, great job on meeting your objective of beating the M3 for less money. As an aside if you read EVO, you'll see they tried something similar with a 135i and failed to make it any faster even after spending 5k GBP!!!.

Unlike many complaints about the project on here, I loved it. One pet peeve though. How much did the CCW wheels weigh? You talked at length about wheel choice and how the CCW's were light and what other cheaper choices you could have made. But you never once said the stock wheels were Xlb's and the CCW's where Ylb's. My suspicious mind then assumes that the CCW's weren't as light as the article was implying. What were the #'s?

OK, no response in a day and a half. So can people on here answer? Does anyone know the weight of stock 335 wheels and /or CCW's?

    You could try GOOGLE

No 18" wheel is going to be THAT light. I'd say these are ~20-22 lbs. I bet the factory wheels are damn heavy though, maybe 35lbs.

I thought there was a bit with each of them on the scale. I'll have to look for it (not on this computer.) IIRC, they were slightly lighter (a few pounds) but wider/larger.

So the factory wheels were 730lbs and the new ones are 728lbs, right?

The key with the weight difference (I believe we're taking about 43 vs 45lbs with tires) is that the new package was considerably larger in width, as well as being a 19" rim.
