Eh, so what? I'm an ex-Bimmer ("beemers" are bikes!) guy, and I know how hard the damn things are to find in the first place.
How does the car drive after the transplant? Even the factory knew they needed more power in the coupe, that's why they eventually dropped the six in it.
If I won the lottery, I'd go find an old beat up 1500, have it welded back together, and send you the tub for another M42 transplant. I figure the nice ones should stay museum pieces, but the ratty ones are fair game. Better than seeing it continue to rot in a field for another 40yrs, right?
Yeah, I think one of those with a lot of the stuff we've discovered "works" on the Two (and an M42) would seriously rock. Spray mine Inka, tho.
Aside..I recall working on my last Two (it was a squaretail 76) once, and even though I knew it had been resprayed, I almost cried when a tool slipped..and the scar went straight through the topcoat into the original Mintgrun underneath. I think I'm beginning to understand why prices are so high for original cars now..I never realized how many of `em were treated so badly.
How can it be a midlife crisis, when I've driven sportscars my entire life?
