    I'm working towards getting my LS1 FC RX-7 listed for sale and would like some additional recommendations on where to list it.

    So far, my plan is to list it at the following sites:

    With the exception of the GRM classifieds, each of those websites isn't an ideal place to sell a track/street car though. Most RX7club.com users are incredible cheapskates (especially FC folks), most LS1tech.com users are into muscle cars and most users on V8RX7forum.com are already building a V8 RX-7. Are there other sites or forums that would be good to use? If so, do they require high post counts before being able to post a FS thread?

    One forum that occurred to me is Corner Carvers, but I don't know much about them.

    All thoughts appreciated!

    Ebay is still just about the best bang for the buck in exposure... but you may want to check with Bring A Trailer about an exclusive listing before you advertise elsewhere...

    Corner carvers is a great source of info, but I wouldn't feel out of placing saying that that board is exceptionally cranky.

    Just getting a login can take a couple weeks, and I don't think they'd be too happy with someone who was just getting on there to sell a car.

    I've never seen a better source of suspension info, though, at least for the stuff I was looking for.

    Hmmm...ebay might be an interesting option. I've never sold a car there though. Does anyone have any advice for doing so? Isn't it important to put disclaimers out the wazoo?

    Sounds like cornercarvers is not the way to go.

    Be honest, lots of pictures, invite questions before the auction end, and advise them that a winning bid is a contract.

    Have people with low history numbers qualify prior to bidding or you delete them, refuse overseas buyers.

    That said, I would vote for this forum.

    It boils down to this...as cool (and time warp fast) as the car is, it is also a lot of money tied up in a car that isn't going to get exercised much. With as much traveling as I'm doing for work now (a few nights per week on average), I've realized that packing up for track weekends and intentionally leaving my wife and kids behind doesn't excite me. I did a half day here at the local track and it was incredible fun, but I felt bad being there, having been gone for 3 days that same week for work. It feels like I'm missing my kids' childhoods already.

    My 9 year old daughter has no interest, but my 5 year old son is already quite a car kid already, so, when he's ready, I'll jump back into the world of track cars and follow in Tim's footsteps, with the goal of co-driving with him as soon as his age permits.

    I paid $13.5k for the car and will list it for the same. I am going to replace the rotors, pads and brake fluid before selling it and will include the 2nd set of rims and track tires I used for the recent event for that price. Compared to the 944 LT1 that's for sale in the GRM classifieds right now for $18k, I think my car will list very favorably.

    Don't think of Ebay as a method of actually selling the car; think of it as advertisement...

    I've bought and sold very few cars on Ebay... but have done plenty of both because of Ebay...

    That's a good point. The exposure alone is probably worth the price of entry. I need to do some ebay research and see what the listing fee is, as I've never listed a car for sale.

    The eBay listing fees are generally very low. When I sold my SSP Mustang, I did it via eBay, and reserved the right to end the auction early if the car sold locally. The car did end up selling locally (because of the eBay exposure) and I think I was out something like $10-20 in eBay fees. As a trade-off for the national exposure, it was well worth the cost.

    If the car actually sells via eBay, that's when you'll be paying more fees via eBay and Paypal (if used for the deposit).

    That's good to know. If the car does sell via ebay, does anyone have any experience with the fees at that point? Is it calculated as a % of the selling price?

    From what I've seen, Corner Carvers has the pedantry and scientific rigor of Slashdot, mixed with the "content worthiness" traditions and fast and loose banhammers of SomethingAwful. Joining to post a car for sale would make you the proud owner of their shortest-lived user account.

    So I'll second Bringatrailer, Ebay and SCCAforums.

    Are you a brand new user to eBay? If so, your user rating will be a 'zero'. Everyone will see that this is your first eBay sale and will be suspicious. This will likely suppress the bidding and keep the auction price low.

    But, I'll agree with others that it is great for exposure. A few emails back and forth, with intelligent and knowledgeable responses will get people to trust you more. As mentioned above, if you don't sell on eBay, you will definitely be contacted by interested parties and you may be able to make a sale off eBay.

    An update...

    I finally listed my car for sale here (GRM classifieds) and on www.V8RX7forum.com. Next stop will be ebay.

    I also would consider a Miata in partial trade, so I may list it on www.miata.net as well.
