My friend has a spectacular NB Miata with all the FM goodies, including a built motor. I suspect Keith would know the original owner well, or at least the car. Long story short, I am interested in buying a track toy with a bit more power -- and I have been looking at Elises. But this may come up -- and I do love my girly-car, not-a-real sports car, hairdesser mobile.

Sadly, the car has the "Appearrance Package" sill extensions and other blah kit that ruins the pretty lines of the NB. Has anyone ever removed that crap? Are the factory holes horribly obvious if I do so?

I don't know how it will look but I do know the appearance package is a crime against nature.

I was in a very similar situation once, I found this:

    Ooo, who's selling?

I've never looked closely. I thought it was just double-sided tape, but the pics on Miata.net do seem to show some drilled holes. I'll see if we have any cars here at FM that can tell me.

There are holes, but if you only want to track it you can get some plastic plugs and paint them. You'll certainly be able to see them though. Otherwise you're looking at body work if you want it for street use and not see the holes. It's too bad they had that "Tupperware" option, the car looks soooo much better without it.

I would put Frankenstein bolts on those holes ;)

I went out of my way to put that on my 99. to me, the car looked way better. I do think that the NB.5add ons were not as nice looking. there are holes to drill.

It took me forever to find the right Miata that didn't have the tupperware. So glad I did though!

Boy that makes me miss spring/summer even more! :(

I had to google "appearance package" and I agree.. it is against nature to do that to a Miata
