I am sure there are threads about hating it, I just wanted to make sure you read my comment very clearly.

I hate to echo a squeaky wheel, but I have to agree. And it's not just because you moved my cheese - from a design and usability standpoint the makeover is a step backward and doesn't befit the professional polish of your magazine.
Edit: thanks for bringing back the link to the Discussion Boards

Not a big fan of it here, either. Too busy.

I agree with nderwater completely. It looks worse and is harder to use. It has to be changed again
Can I haz yer attenshuns? There is another thread on this topic - Please add further comments to this thread directly to the ignore thread.

This is not the final, forever by any means--it's a stopgap that addresses our "back end" usability issues with the former main page. We're planning a real overhaul that should solve lots of long-term problems, included our limited choices in, among other things, forum software. Stay tuned...

Ah ok... had me worried. I was planning on never going to the front page again because i can't find anything, and everything is swimming in a strange sea of black with no rhyme, reason, or attention to borders.
I can breathe now.

I don't know what you people are talking about unless you mean changing all the trim to some kind of pink instead of red. The message boards look the same to me.

The change only affects the main page. There are a lot of other changes coming, but as other staff members have pointed out this is primarily intended to address some functional issues with the site.
Pull down menus and mouse-over messages are coming that will make the whole page a different beast still, so we appreciate your patience as we continue to make this site a better place to land on the internet.
In other news, I never want to take a vacation again.

Oh, and yeah--I'm sure any forum change will include lots of agonizing to see if we can preserve your dorkiness.

Does anyone else notice that if you click on the bulletin saying that there's changes being made to the site, it comes directly to this thread?
I would suggest maybe doing something about it before you start getting some negative kickback out of that.

Nope, that was intentional. Feedback is good, even when it's not flattering. This is how we learn. Having 3 or 4 threads on the same subject is less good.

Got it. Maybe change the title then?
I'm going to upload what i see when i go to the main page. I'll warn you ahead of time, it's not pretty, and there is absolutely NO link to the forums other than clicking on the announcement and getting into this thread.

It sounds like you have a caching issue. Hold shift while you refresh. The "community" link takes you directly to the forum for the moment, but will become a pulldown menu that also links to readers rides and events.

Here's what i see: The caching is the least of my worries.

What are you using? That's extra horrible.

That's IE6. It's chucking a wobbly on min-width, box model issues, and float-margin bugs, among other things.

I can has vBulletin?!?!?!
Yeah, it's IE6.
Though usually in my case, if it looks bad here, it looks as bad or worse on Firefox at home. We'll see where the chips lay.

It looks pretty damn good in Firefox 3.6.8 on a Win 7 machine.
Proportioned well for standard monitors, white space to the right on a widescreen.
3.6.8 on a XP machine it doesn't fit either of my screens. The net book hangs off both side and bottom. The std screen at the office it hangs off the side. 3.6.8 on my vista wide screen it has a large white strip on the side which is almost more annoying than having to scroll sideways.
Other than that, I have no problems with it since the community link now brings me to the forums.
Not sure why everyone wants to change the board software. I'm kind of partial to this one just because it's easy to use without all the irritating crap that most other boards have. Then again, I'm not a "computer" guy.

The only reason I come to the website is the forums. If this http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/latest-topics/ is not on the front page, I'll probably NEVER see the the front page.
