This relates to the latest poll question:
I have a preference for sports cars of the late '50s and early '60s so dressing up to match the style of my classic car (if I get another, as I am currently without) wouldn't involve much for me. I dress pretty casually, so the only "period correct" items I currently lack are shoes. I'm not so sure I'd go the full route like that professor in the Rodney Dangerfield movie: Back to School. Maybe I'd get a tweed cap or sports coat, tho.
Hmm.... Early 70s Porsche. Anyone have a Leisure Suit that I can borrow? 
Not unless jeans and t-shirt is considered period correct. I figure that the owner/driver (me) is period correct enough. 
Since I'm so old and vintage myself, I consider whatever I wear to be period correct.
But I do already own a tweed sports coat and hat, ready for the day I buy another British sports car.
GT6 drivers only wear shorts.

When I have taken the Landy to shows I usually dress in "safari" gear... including pith helmet.
I also put stuffed animals and inflatable snakes in and around the truck. I am never going to win any awards (except maybe the "will it make it home" award) so I might as well be entertaining!

Most of my clothes match the era of my car, but it's not intentional. That's just how I dress.

I was looking at wool/tweed caps at the Highland Games/Celtic Festival last weekend; but for $40 I figured I'd just stick with my MG baseball cap and t-shirt.
I'll often wear Wayfarer's and a denim jacket in my 1981 Alfa.
If I had an old MG, I'd make sure to wear a tweed cap with a WW2 style bomber jacket at least once.
We've got some editorial coming up on how the professionals detail cars, and as part of that we spent much of last week working with Tim McNair, a pro who gets cars ready for top-flight events like Pebble Beach.
Tim actually volunteered, as one of the first tips he gives car owners, "Don't dress to match your car." He said that dressing in period-correct clothes can be appropriate for some events (like Monterey), but that if his owners come out color-matched to the cars, he tells them to go back and change.

I can see dressing up as part of a show display like hippies in a VW Microbus or in period costume for a Model T. It seems appropriate for the LBC owners at all-British events and part of the fun. I never got the urge to dress Italian with my Fiat. Maybe it is too modern and I do still have clothing from 1979. Neither will I fly the flag of another country just because the car was made there but I don't mind mind if others do.

Jeans & tee shirts was what I was wearing in 73 when my MG was new so it's still appropriate. I did give up on the handlebar mustash when I couldn't get wax for it anymore. My Hawaii shirts are (in) appropriater for anything from the 40s on. Purplepeopleeater
I'm so period correct that I insist all of wife's bridge club members dress according when we host their group.

I roll old school all the time. Pimpin a mustache, loafers, and leather driving gloves (yes, I drive all of my HPDE events with the leather driving gloves). But that's about as far as it goes. I hate jeans, won't wear cords, and screw plaid.
I don't really do it to match the car, I just prefer more bland style cloths (all beige to match the Vic). Which most younger people associate with older. Most people think I'm in my late 30s, even though I'm only 24.
Whoa! No wonder my 80-something Dad like Bridge....I've been missing out!

I typically wear the same clothes I did 40 years ago. Bass Weejuns/dockers (or low-style converse sneakers), khakis or Levis and a button-down oxford shirt. And maybe a sweater vest. Or a golf shirt.
I'll admit I still like Madras shirts and suede desert boots. I used to have one of those little tweed caps, but I never wore it.
We have a ~1902 Olds Curved Dash replica~ we run in parades. I've been tempted to wear a top hat and Herself with a Prarie Dress...but we never remember. 
I did find an ~Old Picture~ of myself in an autocross in '69...I still dress the same (look!...no helmets!)
