  Okay, I can't help but comment. The 140-series and 164 do indeed have boat-like handling in stock form, but that is easily corrected. Note that the 142 is very successful in ITB racing, even though it's larger than most of its competition.

  I love the 164, but the downside is that it gets fairly poor gas mileage.

  I'm currently trying very hard not to bid on this 70s Mazda 929 coupe. Should be easier to find a decent one in the US I would think.

  I think that was the Rx4 here in the states, maybe. I'm not too sharp on my old Mazdas. Neat cars, and they ARE out there, but they're not exactly thick on the ground.

  It's the same body as the RX4. They came with a normal piston engine as a 929 (like the one above) or a 13B? as the RX4.

  I know a few people over here who between them probably know where the remaining half-decent RX4s are here in the UK, but it's not much more than a handful.

  If the one in the link above wasn't in Northern Ireland I'd be bidding on it but trying to get that over here is a little too much effort atm.

  I had a 1968 RT52 Corona coupe. Nice car, smaller than it looks. Not too slow stock, oddly enough. I put a later 22R motor with a 20R head in mine when the 9R pushrod motor died. Not too hard to do.

  Most of them have a 'toyoglide' 2-speed copy of the powerglide.

  I will chime in here. One of my favorite cars I have ever owned was the Bentley Brooklands that cost $23,000. So much car for so little money.

  In the $15,000 range you can get a nice Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. The cars are amazing, and the club is top notch with tons of events. The Rolls club people really get out and use their cars for tours and rallies. It is not the snobby group you might think it would be.

  For only $10,000 you can get a BMW 2800 or 3.0 CS/CSI. A beautiful and reliable car that eventually has to be worth considerably more than that.

  The other BMW coupe, the 633/635csi is also a nice inexpensive classic for only about $5,000 for a very nice example.

  My pick if you can swing it would be the Silver Shadow if you like Rolls-Royce cars. There really is no car with that much curb appeal for so little money.
