  What Triumph saloons were available in the US? And if you were going to get one which would it be?

  I thought for sure the community would have these answers, but then I realized that all the big Triumph heads are out at the VTR meet this week. (http://vtr2010.org/)

  Here's what I found-Not bloody many proper sedans/saloons were imported here officially. Less than 1,000 1950-1953 Triumph Renown / Mayflower models were imported.
  

  The rest of the Triumph catalog for official US import appear to have been coupes and roadsters. At least a few Herald estate (station wagon) and saloon models made it over, but I don't know if they were gray market or genuine imports.

  

  I'm sure there are some folks with more Triumph knowledge around. Hopefully we'll hear from some of them. Gary Hunter knows the answer, but he's at the VTR meet too.

  I've always liked Herald sedans and thought it'd be fun to put a hotted-up 1296 from a Mk 3 Spitfire into one. Somebody in the Texas / Oklahoma area is vintage racing one and it looks pretty cool. I'll see if I can find a pic. Vitesse sedans with the 2-liter Triumph six are pretty cool too but I don't think they made any RHD versions. I don't like RHD.

  A few years ago I really considered a Vitesse Estate--a converted Herald Estate, basically. The price was right and it looked tough. It had some rust, though. My wife delivered the final nail in the coffin: top doesn't go down.

  The TR10 is slow but pretty cool. If you're looking for an uncommon British sedan, there's a ton out there. Humber Super Snipe might be my favorite, and it's not just due to the name.

  PL Newman raced a Triumph 2000 sedan in his early years. I've heard the car is still around and might run some vintage races. Since these cars use the 2000 six cylinder (like the GT6) a TR6 engine (2.5 liter) should be a pretty easy drop in.

  A guy in our club here recently bought a Triumph Herald convertible. Nice restoration but it can hardly get out of its own way.

  Easy fix. Spitfire twin carb 1300 engine, with Spit overdrive trans. Late Spit IRS parts to make it safe to turn corners. In reply to Shinsen774:
